ANYTHING GOES....DRIVE, STROLL OR BE STROLLED, BICYCLE, SKATE, OR JUST STAND AND STARE

As you can see anything goes in this parade.

Our little story began seventeen years ago when a local resident ran out of beer one 4th of July afternoon and began a solo journey down Neptune Avenue to the liquor store donning an Uncle Sam's red, white and blue top hat while waving an Ole Glory and whistling Yankee Doodle. Much to his pleasure and amazement he looked over his shoulder and noticed that several other folks began falling in behind him and walla a tradition was born. There has never been a formal organization, committee, group, leader, or individual who claims responsibility for this event. It just happens; Just like it should. A spontaneous gathering of Americans and visitors worldwide all United and having fun expressing their freedom. Thank God for small town USA and GOD BLESS AMERICA.  HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!

Hanging out along the North San Diego Coast for the 4th and looking for a really cool and fun event? Bring your patriotic Spirit and pack your lunch, snacks, drinks, beach chairs, umbrellas, surfboards and beach favorites and join the fun in the sun at the annual Neptune Street 4thof July coastline parade and all day party. All are welcome to walk, march, jog, bicycle, pull your red wagon, stroll your kiddies, skate, decorate your golf cart, cruise on your Harley, drive your Woodie, classic or antique car old fire engine, ambulance, hearse or just find a nice comfortable place to watch. Everyone that shows up is a participant whether you like it or not. Decorate your beach cruisers and baby strollers, bring your noise makers, music makers and dress in your red, white and blues and get ready for one of the friendliest and most down home 4th of July parades and street party's in one of the most original old Funky Beach towns remaining on the California Coast.

The entire street is lined with nice friendly fun loving locals and folks from all over the world waving, cheering, singing and saluting as the parade strolls by. You can jump in and out whenever and wherever you wish and don't be surprised if your whisked away to a party in someones beautiful home or handed a hot dog and a cool one along the way. But do bring plenty of liquid and make sure some of it is water. The two mile jaunt down Neptune is truly one of NorthSan Diego's most charming and original, not to mention expensive, beachfront communities so bring your cameras, cell phones and video recorders. You'll want to savor these memories and share them with your family and friends forever.

BY ALL MEANS DON'T MISS THE WORLD FAMOUS "NEPTUNE YACHT CLUB" ABOUT MIDWAY DOWNNEPTUNE AVENUE. VOTED THE FRIENDLIEST AND FUNKIEST HOME ON NEPTUNE AVENUE (LUCADIANS TAKE THEIR FUNK VERY SERIOUS).  EVERY DAY IS THE 4TH OF JULY FOR THESE WONDERFUL FOLKS. YOU CAN'T WALK BY THEIR HOME WITHOUT STOPPING FOR A BEER, GLASS OF FINE WINE OR YOUR FAVORITE LIBATION AND A FRIENDLY CHAT ABOUT THE DAYS CATCH OR DAY ON THE GOLF COURSE. ALL YOU NEED TO BRING IS A SMILE AND A GOOD ATTITUDE. (ALTHOUGH ANY AND ALL LIQUIFIED CONTRIBUTIONS WILL BE GRACIOUSLY ACCEPTED AND CONSUMED.)

There are several public beach accesses along the parade route starting at Moonlight Beach which is at the end of Encinitas Blvd. It has showers, restrooms, a snack bar and ample parking if you get there early. Moonlight is the only sea level beach with easy access and is great for folks with young kids. The other beach accesses are for the more serious surfers, joggers, walkers, sun bathers, etc. About 6 blocks North is Stone Steps and another 6 to 8 blocks you'll find Beacons and to the far North at the end of Neptune and the parade route is Grandview. Unfortunately these beaches do not have any public facilities and you better like a lot of steps.  However, all public beach accesses do have on duty lifeguards. Parking is free in Leucadia and Encinitas.

I've lived in Encinitas for 10 years, and had no idea about this "spontaneous" event. Sounds like a blast!

Hey ~!  You guys ROCK~! I was there for the very first parade, it was a blast...I resided at the "Big Green" ECLECTIC beach house...One request, please lets bring King Neptune back into the scene!! May he rest in peace, but I believe he'd want the tradition to keep going!! Thanks for a fun part of the wonderful time I always have being on Neptune, it is truly a family for miles!!

Peace and Light,

Hi Phaerda,

I am trying to figure out how to streamling all the video snippits into one continual run. Once I've accomplished I have to figure out how to access the HP video library and upload the video on Youtube. I'm no techy and will be happy to receive input from anyone who has some ideas. I'm glad you mentioned the King. We'll try to do it next year. Do you have any ideas?

I was able to download 4 of my short little video snippets before getting
distracted and having to come bact to it later only to find out that I had
misplaced the SIM card somewhere in my bedroom. Still looking for it. When I
find it I'll load the rest of them up (all 32) and let you know. You can
find them under "17th Annual Neptune 4th of July Parade".
