Leadership, Leads, and encouragement might be the three things that our agents need to survive in this market. The Basics of the business- lead generation, lead conversion and servicing the lead- actually make money for the agents. Encouragement will help them believe and keep going even when things don't look well.
BUT Leadership from management, owners, team leaders etc is needed the most.
I have read a couple of books by John Kotter. Some of his more serious works are Leading Change, a Heart for Change and others. What I like about John is that he breaks the jargon and insider's speech of many of the less approachable books on this subject. And Although he uses charts and studies they are pretty much in plain english.
Well He takes it a step further as he co author's Our Iceberg Is Melting. If you read one book this year that will help you understand what to do in a changing market for mindset this book is it. What is it? It is an Illustrated Fable about a penguin colony in Antarctica. Since the iceberg is melting a metaphor for change, and the middle management penguin who is particularly astute understands there is a change in the iceberg. Realizing that the colony is resistance to change he enlists the talents and resources of various penguins to bring the colony to a point where they know that they must leave the iceberg in order to survive. It presents the idea of overcoming "we have always done it this way"
So how do you deal with resistance. "maybe it is smart that we move away." Getting the mind open and be creative. This book is short about 160 pages. It reminds me of "who moved my cheese" and "Fish" and "The One Minute manager" and "The Five Temptations of a CEO" All of which are short fable like stories that are overpriced.
