I have been selling homes full-time in San Diego, CA for 7 years now.  When I got my license, I was 22 years old, and I knew I preferred casual clothes especially for the fact that I was constantly between the office and out on the street getting in and out of my car to show property.  When I didn't wear a long sleeve button up shirt with clients and slacks I used to feel that I was not portraying the look of professionalism, especially after watching Hollywood movies all these years that showed real estate agents in a suit and tie with a briefcase. When I did wear a long sleeve button up shirt while out showing property in the sunny San Diego weather, I would commonly have clients tell me that they hope I wasn't wearing the long sleeve button up shirt for them and that I should dress more comfortably.

With the exception of special events such as weddings and funerals, I wear a tie maybe once or twice a year.  Why?  Because I DON'T LIKE THEM.  San Diego's weather is usually sunny and warm and I personally only see people wearing suits in downtown office buildings or maybe at the airport.

Instead, you are much more likely to find me in a button down short sleeved un-tucked shirt and blue jeans.  I like being comfortable, and I have more than enough knowledge about the real estate industry.  In other words, I don't need to try to prove anything by wearing a double-breasted suit. I occasionally wear a t-shirt if I am helping someone move or preparing a rental property.

I am thankful to be self-employed, and even more thankful to live in San Diego, which is known for our beaches and laid back atmosphere.  I have even been known to wear shorts and sandals with certain clients on the weekends.

I typically dress each day depending on what I have to do and have a back up change of clothes in case the situation changes.  Generally speaking, the vast majority of my clients wear VERY casual clothing when viewing homes, unless they are coming straight from work. And even when coming from work I frequently have clients that go home to change into something more casual.

The bottom line is if you are looking for a button-down, Hollywood-style real estate agent, I don't really match that stereotype.  If you want a real estate broker who cares passionately about his clients and strives to make the process as simple as possible, give me a call!  Who knows?  I might even wear a suit if you request it, assuming I don't spill coffee on it in the car on the way to our appointment
