Google Can Recognize Your Face

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with RealSatisfied

Google has been leaking that they were working on the ability to search based on "visual concepts," not just on textual contexts.

The video below will show you how it works, but in general all you need to do to test this out for yourself is ad this to your image search URL string: &imgtype=face

In this search paramater, "face" means human face. And what you will see in this video may be the first efforts to come out of Google's Neven Vision purchase. It appears to be a true "image object recognition." I have to tell you, even after reading about it on several technical sites, I was surprised at the accuracy of the results.

Here's my video demo:

The technology is pretty amazing, but without any verifcation of who the face actually belongs to you may not really know who you're looking at.

I google searched my name and got your picture.  (boy was I surprised at those results. Ha. Ha.  No further comment necessary.)  :-)

Martin... that's really interesting. I need to give that some thought. I've used your name and link in my posts. So, my photo is showing up on your name search.

So I did this and found 2 pages of faces but not my own- are you suppose to put your image somewhere specific on your blog for it to be 'found' by goolge???  You certianly are quite the techy!

Scott... look at how your images are named and the descriptions for the images, if they are on your blog. The "alt" tags are readable by google. Often people forget to name their images properly. So, there are lots of "image1.jpg" and "myphoto.jpg" files roaming around the Internet. :)

Very cool stuff. I love Google. They don't come up with the technology, they just buy the companies that do, and then roll it out to their 5 kajillion users!

Jeff, That is very interesting!  I am just hopeful that the faces which pop up are not too scary looking!  :-)  JK.  Anyway, I will have to play with the feature.  Thank you for the info and the research that you have done!
