There are a few real estate models in Sun City West that Del Webb specifically created to accomodate a casita on the homesite at time of construction, the Barcelona, the Prescott and sometimes the Flagstaff. Casita is Spanish for little house. A casita is a detached guest house was constructed in front of the property with a common wall that attached to the main home. Not all prospective homeowners took advantage of having the casita added to the property due to the cost associated with constructing a casita.
A Sun City West casita is unique due to its huge courtyard that separates the casita from the main home. The courtyard provides both the homeowner and the guest exceptional privacy.
The casita has its own private entrance, a full bath and a large bedroom. Unique from other casitas in the West Valley Retirement communities, the Sun City West casitas also has a nice dining area, ideal for a relaxing cup of coffee or a snack. The Del Webb constructed casita sizes were approximately 300 sq ft, a supersized hotel suite in today's standards. Sun City West homes with a casita are highly sought after since it takes a special lot size due to the size of the casita and its setbacks. It presently, it costs about $50,000 to add a casita, that is if you have the lot size that will accommodate a casita in front of the home. A second community within the confounds of Sun City West is Fitzpatrick Ranch, by Granite Crest Homes. This community of 45 homes, has Sun City West addresses and residents have full privileges to the use of Sun City West facilities. Homes were built with huge three car garages, with an option in having one of the garages converted into a casita. The third Sun City West community is the gated golf course community of Corte Bella, by Pulte Homes. This community also has Sun City West addresses however residents do not have the privilege of utilizing Sun City West facilities. Many homes in Corte Bella were constructed with a casita since the casita option was available on all models.
