Prayer Request for Active Rain Member's Daughter

We are asking to add Lisa Schlitz's daughter to your prayers Sunday and Monday.

Lisa Schlitz is our buyers agent and she is a member here on Active Rain. Her daughter is having open heart surgery Monday morning at 6 a.m. I asked Lisa to explain the surgery so that we know what to pray for:

"It’s a congenital heart defect (VSD) that is causing the aortic valve to prolapse, harden, and leak. She needs the hole repaired so it will be open-heart surgery-they will do a bypass, stop her heart, repair it, then take her off the bypass machine. Surgery will be 6am on Monday."

Her daughter will remain in the hospital for a week after the surgery.

I know that Lisa is super stressed as any of us mothers would be. I spoke with her daughter the other day who is nervous but confident. She says she wants them to video tape her heart when it is opened. The doctors declined the video tape. I know that is for liability reasons. But we thought it was so brave of Lisa's daughter to even ask.

We pray that God will guide the hands of the surgeon and the nurses in the operating room and that the surgery will go well and Lisa's daughter will have her heart repaired and live on to reach all of her dreams. I am also asking for the Holy Spirit to be with Lisa to calm her and give her peace.

Sometimes in the stress and turmoil of our lives we may not always have our trials removed but we can always pray for the Lord to abide with us and fill us with his peace.

I will be happy to include Lisa in my prayers...I am sure the good Lord will watch over her and the doctors.

I will also include Lisa in my prayers. Tell Lisa that she has the support from many, many caring individuals from ActiveRain. I believe this is a community that cares. And for every person who leaves a comment, there are hundreds who have read your post and feel the same way -- they just have a hard time expressing their cares in print.

I will be thinking of Lisa's daughter Monday morning. How brave that she wanted a video of the operation...how would that look on Active Rain?

I am not a .religious guy, and do not follow any religion and never had, but I am with you on that. Wishing the successful operation and speedy recovery

It is interesting that in the United States, liability prevents videotapes. In Mexico, where there are many great doctors, often trained in the US, many of my friends have videotapes of their surgeries. Maybe insurance companies and attorneys are the reason that I see many US doctors moving to Mexico.

As a father whose daughter is currently going through cemotherapy treatments for cancer, I understand the angst that Lisa is going through. I will include Lisa's daughter and Lisa in my prayers. May Lisa have a speedy and full recovery.

Hi Katerina--You know I'll keep her in my heart and prayers. How old is her daughter? What a brave little girl--I'll be she would like to see that video--I know I would!

@Debe-Hi Lady-Allee is 17, and a bit of a geek (in a good way)-wants to be a bio-medical engineer, and thought it would be cool to have it videod. The surgeon said he will snap a few shots of her heart for her anyway...LOL.

@Jimmy-my heart goes out to you and your daughter-she will also be in my prayers.

Hi: My daughter's surgery seems to be a complete success-a textbook case-great attitude and great recovery. We have her at home and the only problem she is experiencing is boredom-think I can handle that!
