Fotos from the Farm on the Fourth...

Fun Fourth on the Farm.

Many of you enjoyed the hustle and bustle of city celebrations, on this holiday. We had a decidedly rural experience, this year. One of our friends and neighbors asked us to join them on the Farm for the fourth.

One of my golf buddies, showed another talent by putting on a Blacksmith's exhibition for his family and guests. Now we live in a very Artsy area, and I have been to many craft shows, but to watch a guy you play golf with, form intricate art work out of raw iron was really cool (or should I say Hot).

It’s been so much fun to hang out with friends and neighbors, listen to live music under the stars and a bit odd to see cows watching you dance the night away.

The little ones found the four-wheeler, and roasting marshmallows to be their favorite part. The adults found the private fireworks display and liquid libation just the right combination for a celebration with friends and family.

There is just nothing like the people you meet in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, leaving your keys in the ignition and your front door unlocked is a way of life here, and I wouldn’t change that for the world.

Steve: Nice one! What a wonderful time. Growing up, our 4th's were more often like this than big city productions. We usually went to a lake and hung out with family, friends and neighbors... And, Live Music too!...

Alan... Funny you mention the cows they were huddled together during the fireworks and live music, but during band breaks they were quite interested in hanging out with us.

Sounds like a great family celebration was had by all! Our fireworks are tonight and I am really looking forward to it. No cows are expected to attend, however.

Wendy... When it gets really hot in Florida...you must miss your New England Roots? Call when you are ready to visit.

Irene...this is rural New England at it's best, our small town parade is three firetrucks and floats that the kids make, but we do step it up on the Fireworks...as a resort town we do spend some money on the night-time pyrotechnics.

Hey Steve, Looks like you and your family had an ideal evening to me! Can you share any photos of your golfer-blacksmith works of art? I'd love to see them.

Steve I grew up in an environment where every thing was left open, sad that this is not always possible these days. Getting together with friends and family to have a good time is the way it should be. Thanks for sharing your photos.

Oh I so miss the days where houses aren't locked and people are just plain who they are! This sounds so much like MN where I grew up. Our lake home had the cows and fields of corn - it was great! Here is Phoenix - it was HOT - but we had a blast, like you with friends just hanging out.

Noting better than a laid back rural community. I lost my house key about 30 years ago and have never missed it. My wife and I travel extensively and have a second home. We've never locked our doors. Great feeling isn't it. Our kids were shocked when they moved out on their own and had to start using keys. Your pix are great. Got warm fuzzies reading and viewing your entire presentation.

Sounds like a grand time for all. Oh for those days when you could leave your front door unlocked and your keys in the ignition. Can't do that here anymore!

Steve...I had just spent Fathers Day on the farm. Brings back a lot of memoies.

Rural life can be very relaxing. Let the lightning bugs put on the fireworks display.

Steve sounds like you had a happy 4th of July. My family and I use to go once a year to visit some friends in West Virgina who have a 103 acre farm. We have not done that for a few years not and I miss it. Maybe it is time to pay them another visit this year.

Bill... So you already know the farm isn't all that glamorous, the early riser thing gets old fast.

George...It's till for another trip to the country, need to keep some down home perspective in our lives.

Steve - Now that's what I call a picture perfect way to spend a weekend. Now you've got me craving for some hot roasted marshmallows. I think I might just get my husband to fire up the grill. :)

Donna...Nothing like hot Marshmallows, Hersey's chocolate, on a graham cracker...give me smores every time.

Steve - That's not fair. I've got the marshmallows and the Hersey's chocolate but no graham crackers. I might just have to make a run to the convenience store down the street from me! :)

We went to Maine for the 4th. Camping up in Boothbay Harbor and had a great time despite the weather.
