For those who were unable... (or too afraid to get wet) to attend yesterday's Evanston Fourth of July Parade... we had a great time.  I had great seats (right in front of Coldwell Banker @ 2929 Central Street, right here in Evanston)... unfortunately, that means that many of the photos that I took showcase Baird & Warner.  Oh, well... rather than blur out the competition's name... just enjoy some of the highlights from the photos that I took yesterday.

The parade started promptly at 2:00... while we were experiencing some drizzle, and heavy overcast.  2 hours later, we were in full downpour, and the intrepid souls in the parade toughed-it-out, and finished anyway.

This year represented the 88th year of the Evanston Fourth of July parade.  Our parade was ranked number three by Country Home Magazine in their 2001 edition.  Washington D.C. was 1st, and Boston (with their Boston Pops' performance) was 2nd... and believe it or not... we were #3!!  Quite an honour for a home spun parade.

Rebecca - there were 120 entries... this is only a partial view.  it was fun, I wish it'd been dry.

Richard - do they give out awards for that???  I was going to make it two posts, after I realized how long it was getting... but, hey!  It's a parade!

Looks like it was a lot of fun even if it rained on your parade. Thanks for posting all the pics for us to have a look my friend.

Alan, Wow what a show, super creative masks on humans and a bicycle riding frog! Ya gotta love the Lawndale Precision Drill Team & Mulching Brigade wheeling down the road :)

Thank you Craig - it's a blast!

True enough, Cynthia - and there's the Evanston Public Library Precision Book Cart Drill Team too... don't overlook them.

Thanks for the pics.  I was supposed to be there with the Fabulous All-Amerika Marching Drum & Bugle Corpse, but our travel plans were scuttled by an unexpected week in Swine Flu Quarantine in Singapore.  It looks like they had fun "Latin it all hang out" even if the drummers were once again too lazy to march.  Just because they are 40+ years removed from their days in the ETHS Wildkit Marching Band is no excuse.

This just makes me miss Evanston and Wilmette more.

Brian - go easy on the Latin it all hang out drummers... the one with the cigar in his mouth is my brother-in-law Mike.
