It’s simply a Google Map Mashup. That means it takes data from one place and puts it on a Google Map.
Traditionally, that would be done via a MySQL database, hosted on a server, in which the coded map could call for it’s data. Once you have the Mashup Code written you’ll need to figure out where to host the database, who will administer it, who has the various levels of permissions, and who backs it all up. As new points come in they’ll have to be added by adding new data to the MySQL database.
Sound complicated? It is (for most people). That’s why I created MuellerMaps.
Instead of a database it gathers it’s data from a simple 5 column spreadsheet. Each row is a new point on the map. Additionally since the data is a Google Doc, it is “Cloud Based” and can be easily accessed from anywhere!
The Map lives on your website and can be inserted anywhere an iframe allows.
You can embed video, a photo, or even a slide show on your tab.
The 2nd tab can be used for contact information and links to more info.

Very cool idea - would be a great add to a Realtor's website - video features of developments, playgrounds, post offices, etc. - could have really great potential.
