Each week, I've been giving a summary of how my weekends are going.  It's mainly my way of showing off the light of my life, Alyssa. People seem to enjoy the updates, so I continue to post them.

This weekend was a lot of fun. We went out on Lake Travis.  Alyssa actually rode behind the boat in the tube. No, she was not alone... she rode with me.  We want her to know at an early age that the water is not scary.

We also spent some time with friends swimming in their pool.

Alyssa almost made it to Fireworks time, but she fell asleep 5 minutes before they started.  I thought about waking her up, but decided against it...

We went home to watch the fireworks, and I'm glad we did.  We watched approximately 12 different firework displays from our Balcony.  Whatever direction we looked, there was a display going off. That didn't include the people in our own neighborhood lighting some off.

I tried using the fireworks mode on my camera, but the images didn't turn out the greatest since most were so far away, but I got a couple.

And Alyssa even got to ride a pony...

Ok, so it wasn't a pony, but she's now old enough to understand Oscar can be ridden like a pony and loves to get on his back.  She even says "Giddie up" and "neigh".

How was your weekend?  What did you do?

Ahhhh, Austin is warming up to you (pun intended).  Glad you had a good time.  Should have had you at our neighborhood BBQ for a free lunch, but Lake Travis sounds like a better idea.  We had about 1000 people at River Place CC.  Cheers.......

Donna - Alyssa sure is growing, seems like just a few months ago she was a newborn. Glad you had a nice weekend. We went to Rockport TX and also watched some nice firworks over the bay. It was just as hot down in Rockport as it has been at Canyon Lake. Didn't get any photo's.         Ceil

Donna, Alyssa is growing.

We had a wonderful 4th.  We started it off at Lake Conroe in a boat parade but couldn't stand running the engine when there was so much wind.  We hoisted the sails and sailed around the parade.  The really cool part was we had both of our children with us.  I think that was the first time ever they have been on our sail boat together.  Our son particularly enjoyed it since this was our first 4th with him since he joined the Army almost 5 years ago.  He is now a college student WOO HOO!  After that we went to a neighbors party and hung out in theirpool.  It sounds like we had similar 4ths.

Okay.. the fact that your dog is named OSCAR cracks me up. Very cool. I think its great that you provide updates of Alyssa. Im also jealous because Im sure the lake was great, especially with the heat in June/July. This weekend we got to enjoy the Ranger game from the front row. We sat right next to first base and to the right of the dugout. Great seat. Since it was 85 degrees on Sunday night, it was probably the best night to go (we got really lucky). But then again, in the stadium there is no wind... so still a little stuffy but if could have been worse if the temperature was 99 like it had been the days before.

Thanks for the updates. I've noticed all your weekend updates include water, which is the best way to keep it in the summer.

It looks like a fun weekend. It is good that you are teaching her about the water. I hope you are getting her swimming lessons. Kids are never too young to learn to swim. It comes pretty natural to them when they are young. Have a great summer.

Out here it's illegal to shoot off fireworks in your neighborhood, the consequence of living in a high fire hazard area. There were so many neighborhood fires when fireworks were legal that the firefighters were overworked (and underpayed) during Fireworks Season, which just happens to coincide with our Dought Season and Fire Season to begin with. Might as well not be the fire that started the firestorm.

Russel, It was illegal to light the fireworks here too because of the burn ban, but the cities and restaurants were allowed to light them with special permits and lots of fireman around.  The police ended up in my neighborhood because of some people at the end of the street lighting them.
