NEW PRESIDENT OF THE LAFAYETTE ROTARY CLUB, SANDI MITCHELL, EMPIRE REALTY ASSOCIATES
WALNUT CREEK - Sandi Mitchell, Realtor at Empire Realty Associates will become the first female president of the Lafayette Rotary Club on July 1st. She went to Birmingham England on June 20th - 24th to attend the Rotary International Convention. This brings Rotarians together from the 32,000 clubs around the world.
A Rotarian is one who looks beyond self-interests to serve the community, country, and the entire world as evidenced by Rotary International's global polio immunization program. A Rotarian seeks the truth; lets fairness govern all activities; strives to build goodwill and better friendships; and attempts to develop mutually beneficial relationships in all endeavors. These individual goals evolved into what is now know throughout Rotary as the "4-Way Test" of all relationships. Rotary's two related mottos are: "Service Above Self" and "He Profits Most Who Serves Best."
"I knew my affiliation with Rotary was a privilege and a pleasure. However, after being in Birmingham at the International Convention I am PROUD to be a Rotarian! Rotary is made up of individual people who start with an idea such as AIDS orphans in Kenya needing clean water and a place to live a couple of years ago to today where there is now housing, a school and a well dug 450 feet deep powered by a solar windmill which in turn is providing electricity enough to generate power that they sell to ranches surrounding this property. Talking with such dedicated people asking for nothing in return other than to make this world a better place has taken my breath away" said Sandi.
