Sheldon - how cool, adn well done. What a neat train station. Reminds me a bit of New England. The shadow at the bottom (yours, I assume) adds an interesting touch.

Hi Sheldon.......train history is interesting!  I was in south Alabama with my brother this week and he was driving around looking for traces of tracks that had been removed.  He volunteers at a local railroad museum and even drives the train.

Looks like a fun day to check out if you ask me. We have the SC State railroad museum about 20 minutes from our house. It's neat to take a look at.

Train enthusiasts will have a field day at this place, Sheldon. Although I'm not much of a train nut, I've been to the California State Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento, with its restored locomotives, and found it fascinating.

Museums like this keep the history and lore of railroading alive for new generations.  As a hobby, my husband used to sell model railroad items on eBay.  Hope all the kids, young and old, had a good time!

That looks like so much fun, Sheldon.  It reminds me of the Peter Dinklage movie "The Station Agent".  If you haven't seen it, rent it.  That building looks like it came right out of the movie.

I still have fond memories of the extensive model train setups that my grandfather built for his grandchildren.  It was fascinating as a kid and I still like taking a train now and then.  Nice event... I hope there is a good turnout.

Sheldon,

Truly love this post.....hey you will get a kick out of this....weekend before last my husband FINALLY talked me into camping...picked a nice spot by the river...really peaceful...prepared a wonderful gourmet picnic...so any way we fall asleep...I am a desperately light sleeper...all of a sudden at 1 in the morning...you guessed it a freight train went by only about 15 yards away...holy cow...it was loud...scared my pup to death...I think he thought the world was coming to an end....your train looks a lot more enjoyable...
