As a Stager and Redesigner my friends are always looking at what I am doing to transition my home into the respective season. Have you summerized your home?

I guess it's kinda like choosing a hair dresser...you always look at their hair to see if it's nice. :-)

Yes-friends do look at our homes, don't they.  I changed my flowers on the porch, candles on my mantels, pillows on my sofas.  Spring colors are gone, summer colors are in.  Happy, Colorful, Hot, Sizzling Summer!

Pat ~ I think it depends on the geographical area you're in.  Here in Portland it's more like two main seasons (summer and winter) so we only have to make changes twice a year, for the most part.  Oregonians are known for being independent and we're not slaves to seasonal fashion changes though!  :-)

My friends look at my home too. But they also know that when half of my furniture and all of my canvases are gone... I am busy. I have decorated my big palms as Christmas trees in December.. does that count?

I like to, when I have time. It seems I never have time to spend on my own home anymore.

My wife drives me crazy as she "schleps-out" various seasonal "knickknacks" every few months and sprinkles them about the house.  I call it clutter while she calls it decorating.  I prefer my living space "simple".  She likes her space to be "busy".  This could be grounds for divorce!

I always try ... including removing the heavy carpets that I use in the Winter, and going with exposed hardwood floors or very light/thin area rugs, in lighter colours.  I also just painted.  It looks like Spring in my house (it's Spring outside too ... Summer got lost somewhere).

Unfortunately, I don't seem to have the time to keep up with home decor as much as I should.

Pat, I definitely do try to switch it up on a regular basis although, i have to admit, I don't always keep up with the seasons.  Changing things around helps to keep my space looking fresh.

Pat,

Interesting concept. While we have seasons, we mainly have two - air conditioning months and non. :)

My home looks beautiful when it has all my furniture and accessories in it!  The problem is that when I am staging a home, sometimes it's just missing that "one thing" and of course, it's in my home so I borrow it to make the staged home look fantastic.  Do you other stagers out there do the same thing?

Hi Pat.  Right now my house is under some reno's.  In general I do change up for the seasons.  I leave draperies and art  (as mine are all originals and I really like them).  What I change up are mats in front of doors, pillows, beddings and small accessories.  When I decorate for CHristmas I remove all accessories so that it does not look cluttered.

I try to maintain some sort of small fresh arrangement in the home.  For example boxwood during the winter.  These last along time in foam then I add some white flowers.  The summer I have a large amount of hosta's and annabells in my garden I bring these in during for the summer arrangements.

I have all my table linens that I use for the different seasons as well.

We don't really have seasons, hot and hotter.  I don't have time to change out  seasons,  with my house...kinda a shame.

We have all 4 seasons well defined here in Quebec, Canada but I only seem to get around to 3 of the 4 with spring and summer rolled into one.  I also like changing around the furniture especially when I do the spring cleaning!
