The number one item on my wish list when I was buying a house was "charm".  It's one of those know-it-when-you-see-it sort of things.  And I did find it - my first house just oozed charm.

My mother and I play something we call the "charm game".  As we drive along we yell out "Charm!" or "No Charm!" as we pass houses.

Charm can be in short supply sometimes when looking at houses.  That's why I was so impressed by this garage in Somerville Mass - with its hip roof, double doors with diamond pane windows, and pair of oval windows- it gets my vote in the Charm Game.

Gray garage with hipped roof, diamond pane windows, oval windows, and an American flag

Oh for sure!  Charming enough to live in!  All it needs is a welcome mat.

Wow, it IS charming!   I wonder what men would think of it?

I can hear my husband now "You're not putting flowers ON my garage!" :-)

Liz, that is a charming garage for sure. So, tell us, what did the house look like? Was it a match to the garage? I could live in that, LOL.

Its cute as a button and looks like it would be perfect at a lakeside cottage or something. Thanks for the pic.

Very nice.  And hopefully it looks just as good on the inside.  There's so many garages just full of junk and unused stuff that really affects the way a home shows.

Oh my, that is adorable!  That's worthy of its own address!  With a garage like this I can only imagine what the house looks like!

Hi all!  I saw this when we were on our office tour in Somerville.  It was down the street from one of our listings and as I recall the house that went with it was a turn-of-the-century multi-family that had been converted to condos.  Nice but the garage was what really did it for me.  I fell in love with it.

Liz - great garage. Looks more suitable for a studio than a car. A classic New England look.

Hi Liz...Charm is a good thing, with this garage....mmm the doors are to small and no automatic garage door. But what the Heck Charm does beat out Modern.

Cheers, thanks for sharing this photo !

Liz - I must say that is one of the more delightful looking garages I've seen in awhile.  It makes me want to explore the house that it belongs to, and to look beyond the little gate immediately to its right.

Hi Jeff ~ It would make a great studio, wouldn't it?

Hi Gabrielle ~ Or a great playhouse!

Hi Fred ~ The doors are one of the best parts!  I hate replacement doors - unless they're custom reproductions (even then they're not as good as the originals) - and cringe every time I see them on an old garage or carriage house.

Hi Myrl ~ "Delightful" is a perfect way to describe it.

Great garage.  Your use of the word charm equates to curb appeal in my mind... I think charm sounds better.  I hope you don't mind if I starting using it.
