I have a quick tip for all who are new to Twitter.

Remember to upload a photo, put your coverage area and write something in your bio space about your interest and hobbies.  This goes a long way when people are deciding whether or not they will follow you.

Also, Once you've done this be sure to put in your first "tweet".  So many people create a profile and then don't go back to tweet.  It can be anything.  You may even want to start with "This is my first day on Twitter".  This in itself will get you some replys and followers.  Then you can tweet about your favorite music, hobby or sport.  Of course you'll want to tweet about real estate too but I don't advise you to do "All work and no play".  Most of my @ replys come from my personal tweets not my real estate tweets.

I am by no means a Twitter expert but this is a simple tip that will only take a few minutes and be well worth your time.

Enjoy!

I do not do much with twitter but I am going to go tweet right now :)

I recommend doing at least 3 tweets a day.  Just do a couple in the morning with your coffee and one or 2 in evening to get started.  Do some about biz and some about hobbies / personal.

Thanks so much for your great remarks; I actually thought I had filled in the information you mentioned; after I read your post, I went back and checked and I had not - although I did have a real photo.  I guess I'm still real new at Twittering.  I also heard on some networking webinar that if you were new at Twittering - search for in my case Charlotte "anyone know" or Charlotte "looking for" and you could start by responding to someone's tweets that way.

Thanks again for your post.

Hi Wendy: great info. Tweeter cannot be denied! Its amazing what one can do with 140 characters!

I'm not a Twit at Twitter yet, so I'm not tweeting. I can't imagine trying to say something with just 140 characters. Heck, I can't limit myself to that in a simple ActiveRain comment -- LOL.

Thanks for the advice.  I went back to look at mine and it was kind of all business so I took your advice and put in that I am a Bon Jovi fan.  LOL  Thanks for the tips!

Matt, Debbie and Susie, I recommend tweeting at least twice a day on Twitter.  If you are in time crunch you can spend 2 minutes tweeting then off to your next item on to-do list.  However sometimes you'll want to spend more time and read the tweets of ppl you are following and reply to some of them.  You can get a minute by minute "Twitter conversation" going.  Just remember the replys can be read by all of your followers.  If you are sending something you don't want the whole world to "hear" do a DM and only that person will see it.

Lloy, I totally agree.

Russel, It is much easier than you think once you get started.

Debra, great that should be good.  Now, also when you tweet throw in some tweets about Bon Jovi, your workout schedule, what you are doing for the upcoming weekend, etc.... YOu'll get a lot more replys on those tweets than anything.

I've gotten 2 pretty good leads on Twitter so far and then several "inquiries".  Not sure where the inquiries will lead but all of them are from people who normally reply to my personal tweets.  I don't make them too personal.  For example, "we are grilling out by the pool this evening and having great weather" or "I'm headed out for early 6 a.m. walk down by the lake".

OK, have fun hope this helps some people

Wendy, you are doing so much better than I at this Twittering.  I understand it but I simply haven't made time to really get involved with it the way you and others have.  It is still on my list of things to do!  Thanks for the good information!

Wendy, after attending today's RainCamp in Seattle and hearing about the followups that can be done with Twitter, AND now reading your practical, highly informative post, I will start tomorrow--as soon as I recover my password : (
