What I Learned from Seinfeld about Customer Service

Everything I learned about what to do and not to do in Customer Service I learned from Seinfeld episodes: JERRY MAKES A CAR RESERVATION

In this episode Jerry has reserved a car from the car rental place. When he arrives to pick up his car he finds that its not available.

MORAL: Do what you say you’re going to do. If you tell a customer you are going to give them something or offer them something do it. Don’t make promises you can’t keep, you will only frustrate the buyer and they will not want to work with you. Not to mention you will loose their TRUST.

KRAMER VS. THE CABLE GUY

In this episode Kramer is trying to teach the cable guy a lesson by telling him he will be home between the hours of noon and 6pm then avoids him all together. Kramer even goes as far as running from the cable guy to avoid him. He even makes the cable buy cry!

MORAL: Be on time. If you make an appointment with your client make sure to show up on time if not a little early and be prepared. Customers have better things to do with their time then wait on you!

THE SOUP NAZI

In this episode the soup Nazi treats his customers very badly but the soup is just so good they keep coming back despite the abuse.

MORAL: If you are going to be rude or mean to your clients you better have the BEST product around, something that no one else has. Most of us do not have the only product around, especially in real estate. We compete with hundreds of other agents, builders, houses, and its hard to get the clients to choose us and keep them. So try to be nice to your clients and treat them with respect.

GEORGE TRIES TO SELL

In this episode George tries to show his dad how to sell computers but fails.

MORAL: Don’t scream or yell at your customers or you will sell nothing! Being nice can take you far in sales and real estate!

Things went great at the BBQ today at Feathergrass. If you were able to make it out, tell us what you thought. Should we do more community BBQs?

I like the one about having the best product around! I guess we could all learn about customer service from these episodes... I just never looked at them that way.

Good catch.
