The Indian Neck School is a public Pre-School with approximately 74 students. Preschool classes and play & learn groups are offered at the Family Resource Center at Indian Neck for children who are residents of Branford.. Full time and part day classes are offered for children ages 3 to 5. The play & learn groups are for infants to age 5 and their mothers or care givers,

Mary R. Tisko School is a K-4 school with an enrollment of approximately 500 K-4 students, was built in 1960 and was originally known as Damasus School. The principal and staff strives to provide a the best possible education and create a school where the individual child is important and his or her individuality is appreciated. On November 20, 1983 the school was renamed in honor of Mary R. Tisko for her 55 years of teaching and devoted service to the children of Branford.

The John B. Sliney Elementary school is a K-4 school with 359 students and opened as Branford High School in 1929. It was later renamed in honor of John Buckley Sliney. Recognized for his leadership qualities by his peers, he was elected to class president and was a graduated of the Class of 1915. His name was submitted for election to the school board by his father. He went on to serve the Board of Education for 35 years and was also a First Selectman.

Mary T. Murphy Elementary School

The Mary Murphy School was originally known as Brushy Plain School and received its name from being located on Brushy Plain Road. Built on 7.27 acres of land in December 1960 the original school was built to hold 252 students and contained a kindergarten, eight classrooms, a health room, faculty room, conference room, and office space for a principal and secretary. In 1989 the name of ths school was changed to Mary T. Murphy. Renovations in 1990 included a new wing to the school that included a gym, music room, art room, storage space, a cafeteria, library, nurse's office and new offices surrouneded by a coutryard with a built in ampitheater.
The purpose of the Mary T. Murphy community is to ensure that every student develops into a literate, crticial thinking problem solver who demonstrates compassion, good citizienship and indepence. and a commitment to implementing the best educational practice and providing the inspiration and guidance necessary for all students to reach their fullest potential.

Built in 1972 Francis Walsh Intermediate School was originally known as Branford Intermediate School. The open style character of the school has classrooms with no walls, open space and a special consideration on community sharing and character. While a number of walls have been built in some classrooms, the true characteristics of the school remain today.
The Francis Walsh Intermediate School is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, child-centered learning environment which encourages students to reach their full intellectual, social and emotional potential. Every effort is made to assist each child in gaining the skills, knowledge, values, and attitudes necessary to become informed and responsible citizens. Opportunities are created to encourage students to make good choices. Life-long learning is stressed through careful lesson plan design and the various educational experiences to which students are exposed.

Branford High School was built in 1958 and is the only public high school in Branford Connecticut with a current enrollment of 1182 students. Each year a highlight for Senior students is the Senior Exhibition program. Every student in their senior year must complete an extensive research project on a topic of his or her choice and after completion is presented in front of the community and graded by a panel of judges on a 1-5 scale ( 3 is a passing grade).
THe Media Center in the Branford High School Library is the CENTER OF LEARNING and offers a wide variety of resources that will help students fulfill their academic and personal needs. Students can utilize the extensive print material, books and magazines which are complimented by information available through technology. Computers are available with internet access to students before and after school.

Donna, I did not realize that Branford had that many schools. The number of students per classroom must be fairly small, which is great.
