The other night my family and I decided to take advantage of our local zoo special, Free Summer Saturday Nights. On Saturdays from 5:00 to 9:00 PM in July and August the Brevard Zoo will have free admission.  I wanted to go and have a look and see the animals.

It was a very mild evening, with cool temperatures, but I was surprised that there weren't a lot of animals out this evening.

Free Summer Saturday Nights

This guy was taking an early evening siesta. But, we didn't see any of the other alligators or crocodiles.

This little monkey was all over the place. He was putting on a show for the audience that had gathered in front of his cage to catch a glimpse of him.

Now my favorites are the giraffes.  They are so grand, and tall, too. Our timing was perfect, as the zoo keepers were feeding Jojo and Stephanie.

The momma giraffe was very friendly and curious.

Although the baby giraffe, just 14 months old was very timid and shy.

My teenage daughter, Stephanie was laughing each time the zoo keeper called for Stephanie, the baby giraffe.

After about the 6th picture of the giraffes, my camera died. It just stopped working.  I had just finished charging the battery. This was the second camera in 10 days that did this. So I took out my new cell phone and started taking pictures. I got some great close ups of the momma giraffe, but I have to figure out how to load them or send them to my computer.

Those are great photos, Sandy.  And how cool is it that the zoo offers free admission, on a Saturday night even?!  I wish I lived near there.  I think alot of businesses are struggling right now so they are offering freebies of all kinds to entice people to come back.  It seems to be happening all over the country.  I hope you learn how to upload the cell phone photos.  That would be fun to see.  What kind of phone do you have?

Looks like a fun day!  The weather has been super steaming hot or rainy so it is not as easy to plan a weekend.  I will try to make it out that way.  Nice photo's!

HI Sandy, What great photos!  I could have watched the monkey for hours I think, they are so full of fire :)  I'm planning a trip to the zoo if I can find a weekend without rainstorms!

Ah Sandy, too bad about the camera, I'm sure there were several other animals!  Free admission is great for families who might not otherwise get out to the zoo.  Glad you had a good time ( except for the camera)

I don't have internet access on my phone - otherwise I think you can just email the photos to yourself.  I read my manual a few weeks ago and could not figure out how to get the photos from the phone to the computer without internet access --  let me know if you do.

Well Sandy, I think it's time for me to go visit some wild things in the city after dark:-)  Unfortunately, I've shuffled around the planet long enough that that is just about the only after dark wild stuff I can handle:-)

What a great idea for an evening of family fun.  I've always enjoyed zoos.  I wish I was close enough to take advantage of the free admission.

Sandy - Nice photos. My Grandkids just love that zoo and I've posted several photos from there. We've never been in the evening but I guess some of the animals start to hide for the night early.

Carole

Hey Mary, Oh, well, I went and got a new camera.  I suppose it was time.  But, we did get some good shots while the camera was working. I'll have to check out my phone pictures and see what I need to do.  Thanks.

Hi Lou, It's a great way for the family to spend some quality time together.

Hi Myrl, You know that you are so funny.  You can't be that old...shuffling around the planet.  No wildlife for you after dark anymore huh, except the zoo.  Well - then that would be perfect for you.

Hi Ann, We loved seeing the giraffes up close and personal.  I have gone to the store and gotten a new camera, so I am good to go for awhile, again.

Hi Irene, Free is my favorite price. It's a great way to promote the zoo.

Hi John, It is fun going to the zoo, and it's even more fun to go when it's free.
