I had been putting it off for years. I almost did it on Monday, then again on Tuesday. But somehow, I didn't have the nerve to go through with it.
Then yesterday, I finally was able to muster up enough courage to finally go through with it. I filled out all of the information, just as I had the two days prior, but this time I hit the "submit" button.
It was done. I had actually booked a vacation! And now I am committed.
And although the trip is still a few months away, I am already getting nervous! Can my partner handle the business while I am gone? Will I be able to put out fires from a remote destination? Will my precious kitty-cats be okay?
I keep telling myself that everyone does it, and they all seem to survive, and yet I am overwhelmed with trepidation and anxiety.
I had a friend once tell me that he was looking forward to his vacation and couldn't wait until it started.
What a fool!

Congrats! I know getting away can be tough but enjoy your trip. My wife and I plan mini breaks where we leave Friday morning and come back late Monday. That way we don't miss to much of the office.
Easy to say but so hard to let go of the control we need to have on our transactions. I'm sure with the current technology you will be able to enjoy your vacation and still keep in touch. Have fun.
Richard - I hope you took a tremendous leap of faith and booked a vacation where you cannot be reached. It is a very scary concept but, having done exactly that several times, you could find it the most relaxing vacation ever.
I'm with Mike on this one. The best vacation I ever had I spent outside Yellowstone National Park and there was no computer and my cell phone got no reception.
Hi Richard:
It was a great vacation! Please don't cancel your plans....you need to go on vacation, you deserve to get away!!!
But I must admit, I worried about my deals and listings the entire time, I'm sure you will too.
My husband and friends busted my chops everytime the phone rang. I checked my e-mail each morning and night.
What was a little tough in St. John, was that I was really out of the country.
Richard your worries are needless, except for the kittens, I hope you have a trusted friend to watch over them. Enjoy your vacation. Most places in the world are connected to the Internet, last year we went to hawaii, the resort had a business room, and my cell phone worked. Once couple of years ago I fixed a snafu on a contract in a Las Vegas Casino. LOL. You need to have a great time and business will be there when you come back refreshed and renewed. I know you will bring back some awesome photos so I am looking forward to that. Now when do you go?
Richard, Congratulations on your vacation decision and enjoy the time away from the normal hustle and bustle of you daily life! You certainly deserve it!
you have no idea what you have done! it might be the start of a trend. It is going to be your best decision ever. A great motivator.

Hey Richard - I was thinking yesterday after reading your frustration post that you NEEDED a vacation - a time to get away and just be! Away from all the craziness. I find vacations (even if they're for a weekend) so refreshing and uplifting. I alwasy come back with new ideas and feeling refreshed.
Go - don't cancel out you chicken! Trust your partner!!
BTW - where are you going?
Yay for you! We all need a break now and again - you have certainly earned yours!
Richard, go have sun and enjoy your vacation. We will definitely miss your wonderful photos, so come back with some fantastic ones for AR family to see.
Good for you. I just booked my first real vacation in 3 years- unless you count NAR conventions. I was actually signing up to attend the NAR conference in CA this year and started looking at flights and accomodations in Hawaii instead and guess what- decided to skip NAR and head out to Hawaii instead! I still feel kind of guilty about it though, almost like I am playing hookey or something.
Hi Richard! Just go for it -- it will be fun. All will be fine...Repeat after me... LOL!!
With the advances in technology these days you're never really escaping work... As hard as we all work we need to take some time to rejuvenate the mind and body. Go, enjoy your time off and have fun. You're only a phone call away if you're desperately needed. Now, where ya going?
My wife just booked a week vacation in the fall for us and the kids. She has been asking me ever since if I can handle being away from work for a week. I guess we'll see. Oh and I'm definitely bring the laptop.
I am gone in Aug for 15 days to Alaska. Our dream trip. I have been told that the lap top stays home because there is no room. HMMM, If I leave the underwear home...
I have Wi-Fi on my phone, but very difficult to really work well with such a small screen
Hi Richard.
Well deserved vacation. No writing posts. Promise?
Ken
