Music Pier ... Ocean City Pops ... Ocean City, New Jersey

What a gift to have ... the historic Music Pier on the Boardwalk ... and running out into the beach.  A place for sitting, for people watching, for activities, and for music and entertainment.  There are certainly not very much resort communities along the Jersey Shore that can match what we have here in Ocean City, New Jersey.  And when you add to that the great "Ocean City Pops" you have ongoing entertainment that continues right up to "First Night" on December 31, 2009.

Although my wife, Leslie, and I do not get down to the "Pops" that often; we did have an opportunity to get there on July 5th, one of the two days when the Ocean City Pops had their "American Tribute honoring America in their July 4th & 5th presentation.  Along with several Sousa selections and featuring Steve Amerson who sang many selections including "Into the Fire" and "Blades of Grass;" the International Strings Festival Soloist, Madison Marcucci (violinist) playing "Winter from the Four Seasons (Vivaldi) brought the house down.  Terrific.

So that's one great way to spend "4th of July Weekend" here in Ocean City, New Jersey.  Future ways to spend some time might include upcoming concerts including four performances of "Hello Dolly" and "Hooray for Hollywood" with Diane Penning also in July, 2009.

I doubt anyone reading this blog posting has not been to the Music Pier on the Boardwalk, but if you haven't been there; make it a point to visit during your next stay in Ocean City, New Jersey.  By the way, a long weekend in October and November, or even in the winter months, and when you feel spring has arrived; you haven't enjoyed Ocean City, New Jersey until you have spent some time here in the off-season.                          Dap
