Our son-in-law Matt arrived safely home from Iraq last night and we picked him up at BWI airport in Baltimore. Matt missed the entire first year of his son's life while executing dangerous missions in Iraq on a daily basis. Some of you may recall that Matt was sent to Iraq just one week after his first child was born.

His son, Riley, bonded with him immediately. Take a look at this photo:

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers, Matt is home safe and reunited with his family!

Let us never forget the sacrifices our soldiers are making for us so that we may enjoy the freedoms that we have here in the US. Oh yes, and thank you Matt, from the depths of our heart and souls. We all owe you and your fellow soldiers BIG TIME!

Thanks Chris and Sandy - It was truly miraculous to watch what happened when that child saw his father for the first time. I have never seen anything like it in my life. Riley had never seen his father other than pictures and on Skype (I think it was Skype) when my daughter talked to him. Today Riley sat on his father's lap and watched Sesame Street with him for over an hour - Riley has never sat still for more than 10 minutes.

Awe shucks, I have to stop writing now. Just thinking about it is making my eyes tear.

I know how you feel. I have a son who has been to Iraq 3 times and a grandson who just came home. You pray every night that you will see them again and that the Load is protecting them from harm.
