Looking down on Torrey Pines State Beach in La Jolla from the GliderportAh, the dog days of summer. Ever wonder where that phrase came from?

Terrific weather is here in SoCal in full force. We have left the June Gloom marine layer behind (except for some early morning gray near the coast which is to be expected), the vacationers have arrived, and summer events (concerts, outdoor movies, art fairs) are abundant.

Carlsbad Area Things to Do This Summer

For some dogs, these really ARE the dog days of summer. Pop by Dog Beach in Del Mar to take your pooch for a romp on the beach - you will be in good company.

Paragliding above Torrey Pines State Beach in La Jolla California

But what really inspired this post was my visit to the Torrey Pines Gliderport today - perfect weather, great breeze, lots of paragliders in the air, AND a very special dog who loves paragliding with his owner.

Enjoy the pics - they will inspire you, especially the ones of Fido. Of course I took some pics of the area and other paragliders, too!

Oooo. The para-sailing looks like fun. I've always wanted to try that. Of course we have it here too, but ever since this *#$&^*#@&*%^$   (<<bad words) Fibromyalgia took over my life, I'm afraid to do anything that would pull a muscle  =(

But enough of that. Is this your official summer photo of yourself? =P ... OMG. I just glanced at your links and spotted something that says "Grow-A-Brain"   O_O    OK. Off to check THAT out!   (Psst. Check out my new stroke of genius blog.... NOT)  lol

Jeff

Lots of great things to do in your area. I always liked that saying, and I thought it was a pretty good Al Pacino movie as well. That's an amazing picture off the bluff.

Tom - this area of the coast is incredible - the photo does not do it justice, but I tried.

Hannah - do it!!

Rebecca - I have been parasailing in the Caribbean (that's the parachute atatched to a motorboat) but no paragliding...yet.

Lisa - haha. And if there is not a lot of wind they will end up windsurfing. LOL

Jeff, those are beautiful shots.  I would love to paraglide if it wasn't for me not liking heights.

George - you keep bringing up the issue of heights! LOL

Rita - somehow I think a cat would be less tolerant - you know how they can be.

Renee - guess he also doesn't have any fear of heights.

Mara - the dog seemed raring to go and didn't resist at all.
