What Part of ACTIVE Don't you Understand?

I was just honored to be accepted into Active Rain's Ambassador Program.  Needless to say, I'm excited, nervous and curious as to how good I will or won't be in helping others dominate the world of internet real estate.  You see when I applied based upon Brad Anderson's post, The ActiveRain Ambassador Program, I wasn't sure if I would get picked because, quite frankly, I'm not nearly as great as some of my Active Rain Mentors.  I don't belong on the same field....much less in the same stadium as some of these guys. 

However, when reading the post by Brad, he stated the following requirements:

Requirements for this position:

1. Unanimous approval from AR Staff "Ambassador Advisory Council"
2. Must have three examples of your Blogs at the top of Google.
   
3. Must have 100k ActiveRain points.
       (Over time this may be opened up to lower point earners)
   
4. Must love the ActiveRain Network
5. Maintain a minimum level of monthly participation. Required deliverables will be communicated in Independent Contractor agreement all ambassadors must sign
6. Ambassador position is teaching and support focused. Ambassadors will each receive compensation when new members that they call sign up for Rainmaker accounts, but 'hard sells' will not be allowed. Again, this is a teaching, networking and support focused program.
   

I knew that when I read bullet points 3, 4 and 5, I really did have a chance.  You see all three of those bullet points imply one thing....ACTIVE!!!!  Yes, ACTIVE!!!!

This insinuates that you are actually DOING Active Rain.  You're actively posting and engaging with others.  I just received my 37th referral last night from a realtor on Active Rain.  It's a cash out refinance, but hey, it's a deal.  Truthfully, I'm tickled about this.  Times are tough, but activity means that you're moving.  You're not stagnant.  You actually have a belief that your activities aren't for naught, but will actually result in a postive result.

The Same is True With ACTIVE Rain:

You see.....I make this a part of my business plan.  I never thought that I'd say that Active Rain is part of a business plan, but it has evolved to such with me.  I spend a certain amount of time per week posting and blogging about family, passions, work and things that I can educate the consumer about.  I spend X amount of time per week reading other posts and commenting.  I actually learn quite a bit from others.  But in doing so, I nurture relationships that are building in Active Rain.

I GUESS THE FINAL PIECE OF REAL LIFE ENCOURAGEMENT IS:

That it took me six months.....Yes...six months to get my first referral off of Active Rain.  Brutal, if you think about it.  You're 5 months in and nothing?  Wow.  Well, here it is two years later and 37 referrals later.  Life is good and now I bank on a certain income to be derived from my relationship with Active Rain.  But remember, it's ACTIVE Rain.  The opposite is true.  I've seen so many people blogging and posting.  I subscribe to their blogs and after 20,000 or 60,000 points they stop.  Dudes.....they had me.  They engaged me, an Active Rain Reader Snob, enough so that I am actually subscribing to their musings of life and of the business....and before you know it....POOOF, they're outta here!  Too bad.  Active means Active.  The rain works, but you need to be ACTIVE in the RAIN!
