Philadelphia Foreclosures - RE/MAX Partners with RealtyTrac

Philadelphia Foreclosures - Searching for a Philadelphia foreclosure or Philadelphia REO properties?  In the past they were not as easy to find.  However, that will change based on the exciting news announced a few days ago that visitors to REMAX.com soon will be able to search more than 1.8 million REO properties in the U.S. via a strategic partnership with RealtyTrac.  Through the partnership, REMAX agents will have the opportunity to subscribe to RealtyTrac at a discounted rate.

RE/MAX Affiliates in Philadelphia

It is great to be working with RE/MAX - a company that is a leader and innovator in providing services and support to both consumers and all of it's agents.  So if you are interested in Philadelphia foreclosures, it would be extremely beneficial to be working with a REMAX agent !!

Quoting the news article "RealtyTrac averages approximately three million unique monthly visitors. Through the subscription, RE/MAX agents have access to foreclosure information - including properties in default, properties scheduled for public foreclosure auction and bank-owned properties - along with foreclosure loan information, tax assessment information, comprehensive lien and loan history and neighborhood home sale trends."

Further... "RE/MAX agents are uniquely qualified to manage foreclosures and distressed properties as more RE/MAX Associates have earned the Certified Distressed Property Expert® (CDPE) designation than agents from any other national real estate network. The CDPE training, through The Distressed Property Institute, gives RE/MAX agents the expertise to assist buyers and sellers of REO and distressed properties."

That is good news, I will have to log-in to remax.com myself and read more on this, since I haven't yet read about the new affiliation.

Mary - Yes, I think it is great news.  The press release kinda was "under-the-radar".  I found it on one of Google Alerts.  I think it certainly has a lot of potential - for both consumers and agents alike.

May be good news for those of us in the RE/MAX system. However, our experience is that RealtyTrac is not a reliable source for home searches. They do not update the status of properties. Prospective buyers are better served when they search on the MLS websites provided by their buyer agents.

Roy - I do agree with that so I am expecting information to be more updated as they link the info onto RE/MAX.com .  I know there are all kinds of questions sometimes about people on Trulia about wanting to see properties that are not listed.  I do think though that agents specializing in these areas can certainly benefit by having more access to the information and being more qualified to help the consumers that are interested in these types of properties.

The partnership between Realty Trac and RE/MAX is a natural affiliation that should unfortunately carry on for a while.

Bill - I would think that there would only be benefits to the affiliation that could help both consumers and agents.

Christopher and Stephanie - As someone who has spoken out about Realty Trac and Trulia's affiliation and the problems it causes for consumers and agents alike, I'm not sure if I'm all that excited about this news.  Although I would love to see the public get better access to foreclosure data to help clean up the inventory of foreclosed homes, I don't think this is the way to do it.  Foreclosures are frustrating enough for the consumer, getting out of date information will not help them much.  I think the best way to approach it is to give consumers the appropriate info as often as possible.  For instance, here in TX we have two public facing websites that serve these needs - Southwest Alliance for HUD Homes and First Preston for foreclosures and HUD Homes.  These two sites often have better more up to date information and are the definitive sources for this sort of information.
