You can probably figure it out, but an ActiveTwitFace is someone that is addicted to ActiveRain, Twitter, and Facebook.

I wake up in the morning about 7:15 and wake up my kids for camp. My son goes to YMCA and my daughter to a Horse Camp in Savannah. After waking them up and before I even start breakfast... I jump ONLINE and say good morning to my 3300 Twitter followers. As you know, or may not, when I update my twitter account it automatically updates Facebook.  From there, I start some breakfast. A typical breakfast may include Smokies (sausage in croissants), Pancakes (sometimes Chocolate Chip), or something as simple as Egg & Cheese sandwiches (with Guacamole... YUM).

After I get them breakfast, I get ready myself for the day. While my kids are getting ready for the day, I will usually have about 45 minutes or so. During that time, I jump back online and check emails. Since I am on my email throughout the day... and sometimes extremely late at night... it does not take me long to get caught up. I open up Tweetdeck and ActiveRain to see what my friends are up to for the day.

Tweetdeck is a must for all Twitter users and is extremely user friendly.  This application allows me to set up a few categories. The first is for ALL friends, a second is for my favorite people, a third is just my Texas Connections, and a few other key word searches such as mortgage, refinance, Frisco, Texas, etc. There are even categories to show your direct messages and replies. When you update Tweetdeck, it also updates facebook so there is no need to do duplicate work.

When someone comments on my Activerain post or my facebook page, I am notified via email. Since I am on tweetdeck and email, I am able to see any/all updates and can respond pretty quickly. And when I am away from my desk... NO PROBLEM... I use Twittelater on my iPhone to keep me informed of twitter updates and can use Safari (Mac's version of Internet Explorer) to view my ActiveRain comments.

Before you ask.. yes, I am the guy who updates his status all day long. As I mentioned, I start my day with Good Morning and end my day with Good Night.. and there are a few details in between that I'll update. Nothing TOO personal, but I am not afraid to share some personal things either.

How do I get things done between processing loan applications, making outbound calls, creating posts, commenting on Activerain, and still spending qualify time with my family???  I cut back on sleep!!  I'll take some extra time for sleep when I retire. For now, I am working a business and I find that Social Media is a MUST. You have to be active on the internet and on the sites that are producing the most hype. Right now, its all three of these great sites.

So, if someone calls you an ActiveTwitFace like me... don't take it personally... take it as a compliment.  It just means that you are actively involved with Social Media. Isn't that where you should be?

Lindsay - I've actually been a follower of yours for quite some time. I didnt realize you were here on AR. Nice to put a face to the name. (@JCannata)

Shirley - Everyone works differently. You dont HAVE to be on twitter or facebook. You are quite active on AR which is great because it gives you a wonderful and strong internet presence. But if you do more twitter and facebook,  you let me know.

Oh my gosh I guess that makes me an ActiveFace as I just have not connected to Twitter.  I have tried but I just can't follow those conversations and it drives me NUTS trying to.

Marchel - Its impossible to follow all of the conversations. I comment on some here and there, but if there is someone I am actually talking with, I'll see their response to me directly. With TWEETDECK its much easier to follow the people that interest you most. Perhaps I'll see you on there.

John... nah, you are just a t____... lol  Seriously, I need to eat breakfast at your place.  And you take your daughter to Savannah?  Savannah, GA?  lol  Okay, back to your blog.  I personally have slacked off on twitter.  I don't see the social networking aspect online as I did or many others 6 months ago, when it looked like the thing to be doing.  Now, this is just my opinion. As some have stated, it is impossible to follow so many tweets daily.  Sure, you get to communicate with others online.. you get to interact with others online, in real time. And I know that you stated that you juggle this and work daily.  But I have decided to focus back to the basics, thinking that social media sites such as twitter will burn away, not function as once projected... not be the center hub of social networking.  If anything, I think facebook is the better option and easier to follow... and to have discussions.  And that you can add more characters with a link. And I think blogging will never go away, yet it's been my stronger part of my business and my business plan. Some wrote a few blogs that were featured last week, that blogging was so 2008.  I disagree 110% and I think it will never go away.  Never is such a strong word though and I hate saying never, guarantee, I promise...  but people search online. Once that goes away, then blogging will go away.

Overall, even using tweetdeck and following people... it's hard enough to read so many blogs daily. My job right now, is too put good information out there.... talk to a few, but reply to most...  work, bring deals in, keep up with my borrowers, and wokr new ones.  And if time permitting, maybe tweet some. I just don't see the true/real value now....  I thought I did, but I wonder how many that tweet that are actually busy, just people that are fluff, or that just have too much time on their hands.  Or...  all of the above. And I am not saying that you fit this. But people that want to follow me, can do it on facebook and through my 2 blog sites, without either trying to find my tweet or even if through tweetdeck....  I just wonder about this real time stuff.  I think it can be too addicting and or time consuming.  Just my .02. or maybe a 1 dollar thoughts, since it was more than just a short thought that would be worth .02.  lol

Excellent points Jeff. There is definitely a good and bad way to tweet. I dont fit the typical user (I dont think). Some people will make updates about going to the grocery store and what their daily activity is, but that is all they do. No value. Others will send links only and never have a conversation.

For me, I do a little of both. Conversation is key when working with people (as you know). I try to jump in when I see conversation I can add to.

I have only closed one deal from Twitter (working on #2). The second one is following me on Twitter and on Facebook. They live in Frisco and is now working with Loreena Yeo. So, Im not sure I can credit twitter but they person did get to know me so that when Loreena mentioned my name he knew who I was already.

Its not for everyone and it takes time. I cant spend as much time as I'd like because I do have other work to do also but I think its important to have a presence. Like I said, you made some valid points though and I agree its not for everyone. I could go away because of what the media has done to it (everyone and their mother has a twitter account now.. or so it seems).

Linda - Sleep is overrated.  :-)   Tweetdeck is a great application and easy to use. My only advice is DONT try to keep up with all conversation. Get involved, share your thoughts, create conversations of your own. Good luck!

As a Loan Officer, it is my job to remove the stress out of buying a home and/or refinancing your current mortgage. I do this by providing ongoing updates, being available for questions, and ultimately delivering 'as promised' with not surprises. My goal is to become your consultant for life and for you to rely on me to assist your family and friends as well. I work closely with local real estate agents by helping increase their business. I approach this in two ways. The first way is to review the agents current marketing plan to identify areas where enhancements can be made to generate higher quality leads. The second part is focused on the service to the client both during and especially AFTER the sale.
