Hidden Away in Euless, Texas... A Quiet, Serenely Peaceful Neighborhood Park...

By
Real Estate Agent with New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County

Right down the road from Oak Ridge Estates in Euless, Texas is a nice hidden-away neighborhood park.  Although I find the park very pretty, I think that, during the week, the thing I enjoy most about it is simply the peace and quiet.  There is almost NEVER anyone there during the week.

Hidden Away in Euless... just across from Wilshire Elementary School... is the entrance to Wilshire Park.  It's pretty well hidden, so you've really got to look for the "sign"... which is the large rock pictured below.

Kynette Street is on the North Side of Wilshire Elementary, and that's where you'll find the Wilshire Rock, and the entrance to Wilshire Park and Wilshire Pond !  There's plenty of parking, but Wilshire Park is easily within walking distance from all of the Wilshire area, and also from nearby Oak Ridge Estates.

Just a short distance into the park, you'll find a nice array of picnic tables, bar-be-que grills, playground equipment, and the walkway leading down to Wilshire Pond.  It's a great place to bring the kids... the little ones, your toddlers, and even your grade-schoolers and your teens.  Family fun... and it's Free !

There's a nice walkway/jogging path all the way around Wilshire Pond.  And... one great thing about Wilshire Park... nobody seems to know about it... because it is never crowded.  So... if you're like I am... and want to walk or jog, but don't want a crowd of people around... this is a great place to do it.

In addition to picnics and barbeques, jogging and playground equipment, Wilshire Park also features it's own fishing pier.  Bring your rod, sit right down, dangle your legs, give your rod a "whirl"... and fish your cares away.  Sometimes you might even put some bait on the hook... but many folks who like to fish tell me that fishing isn't always about catching the fish... it's more about "the fishing."  Either way, baited or not, fishing off the pier is very, very relaxing.

Another really fun thing you can do at Wilshire Park is take a blanket across the Wilshire Pond to the other side of the southern fountain (there are two of them)... , spread out the blanket, and just relax, read a book, listen to your I-Pod, or just chill.  Many times I have taken a book with me, spread out my blankie, and just read a chapter or two.  Once again... very, very relaxing.

So... give yourself a real treat.  Come on down to Wilshire Park.  Bring the kids, bring your sweetie, or just bring yourself !  The weather these days is still very much bearable... with all the shade... so there's still lots of time to let go of your stress.  Come on Down... to Wilshire Park !

Hi Karen Anne... what a great looking park.  Having facilities like this make people want to walk and exercise as well as relax.  It's a winning combination!

Fred:  You are very welcome.  This is a neighborhood park.  There are residential homes all around... and a public swimming pool nearby.  It is a medium walk from my home... but what I really like is that there is a walking path along and around this sizable pond.

Steve:  Yes... it is very nice... especially for a secluded park in an area that is NOT surrounded by higher-priced homes.  It is also across the street from Wilshire Elementary School... a public school in the H-E-B system.  It actually has a waiting list to get into it.  Very highly-rated school.

Hi Karen!  What a neat neighborhood Wilshire is--I have a home for sale in a similar neighborhood and the pond and fountain are my favorite neighborhood features!  Just something about strolling around a quiet pond that I prefer over the neighborhood pools!  Love your photos!

Have a great week...

Hi Karen Anne, I love neighborhood parks.  When we lived in Denver, there were several parks we would go to, have a picnic, and hope the sprinklers didn't come on a get us soaking wet.  Those were terrific times in the park.

Sash:  Ah yes... the pictures.  I have a local "older woman" who is pretty good with her Canon XTi take these pictures.  I think she did a pretty good job, too... LOL.  Thanks for your kind words.

Paul:  That was really, really getting to the point of total nonsense.  Although there is still an itch to do it... I am doing decently well.  Thanks so much for cheering me onward.  Take care...

Debe:  The Wilshire area is so nice... and very unusual in that it is in a neighborhood where "average folks" live... if there IS such a thing as average folks.  Most often you wouldn't see a park like this in a neighborhood unless the price range was at least twice this.  And my "older lady" who takes these photos appreciates your kind words.  Both she and I thank you... LOL.

Mary:  Oftentimes... the most fun things are the simple things.  Taking a walk in the park... spending time with family (if I had family)... sitting a one of the park benches and just watching the lil duckies waddling around... all very therapeutic.  Often better than a therapist, and much cheaper, too.

As far as the sprinklers coming on... I remember as a child sitting under the sprinkler just soaking it up... and enjoying it.  I even used to sit in the back yard during the rain... splashing in the temporary puddles in the grass.  Nice memories.

Gay:  Wilshire Park is so well hidden... not even neighborhood signs pointing there except for the one at the entrance.  What an awful change it would be to have the place packed during the warm months.

Although... that really isn't much of a problem for me... because I go there year 'round.  Even in December here... most days are fine... visiting the park and walking around the pond just wearing a sweater.  Nice... !
