Downtown hotel goes on auction block

Economic situation is becoming more obvious even in the sleepy New Bern NC. This week, a downtown New Bern hotel will be sold to the highest bidder to help settle a debt that exceeds $2 million.

The Days Hotel in Five Points will be sold "lock, stock and barrel" during a public auction Thursday at 10 a.m.

The hotel closed in May after its owners, Connecticut Avenue Partners, were unable to pay their creditors.

The successful bidder will get not only the hotel property, but also its furnishings. Within the past year, the hotel had major interior renovations, including restaurant, lobby and guestroom upgrades. Right now there is no telling what kind of money will hotel bring in but with its great location it sure can turn up to be great business opportunity.

Sad...I remember as a child when we used to have to go through the 5 points area on our way home from "anywhere"!

sounds like new stuff is on the horizon for your area... hope it brings an active buyer that wants to take full advantage of all that New Bern has to offer!
