Crazy Like A Fox Gets The Deal Done

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

Fuzzy Eared FoxI have noticed in the banter back and forth between real estate agents, buyers and sellers, and in general around the table for negotiating purposes that often

Crazy Like A Fox Gets The Deal Done.

Oftentimes the one that doesn't show their hand right away, reveal their weakness, shoot their mouth off in a heated exhange, but rather sits back and outfoxes the other person that they are trying to come to an agreement with, is the one that seals the deal.

Be the quiet one initially in negotiation. Take it all in. Absorb all the information. He that often speaks last, loses.

Be cunning, not sneaky, but intelligent like a fox, and see how your quiet brilliance will rule the day more often than not.

Gary, very well put. But... I thought it was supposed to be that the first one that speaks loses. ??

Gary - This is great advice, and advice that I could learn from.  There are times that I get a little excited, and need to sit back and listen when things aren't necessarily going my buyer or sellers way.  I just need to be cunning and intelligent about things.

Gary, there have been times when I was so quiet the other party on the phone said "Hello! are you still there??" LOL!  This is when I can say yes and ask them to explain a little more, because I'm trying to understand what it is they want -also gives you time to think it through a little better :-)

Too often I catch myself talking too much. You are right. Shut up and listen. Only you said it so much nicer.

Gary - You are so right. When I interview folks I let them do all the talking, I can certainly learn many secrets about a person. I then can evaluate, and believe me folks love to talk about themself. You can apply good listening habits in everything you do. Folks have absolutely talked themself out of a job. (Ceil)

Hi Gary... I have always maintained that knowing when to keep quiet is equally (and possibly more) important that what you say when you open your mouth!  Great reminder!

Gary - I learned early in my real estate career from a client who instructed me to handle negotiations "like a fox" - this is one of the best strategies of negotiations and with my client's permission i like to use it over and over.
