Phoenix Arizona - Discover our Phoenix Urban Villages
Are you aware of the Phoenix Urban Villages? Greater Phoenix includes many cities and towns beyond Phoenix itself. But it's not as simple as defining Phoenix's border towns, because the city of Phoenix also is broken into defined areas known as Urban Villages. These are not towns unto themselves, but areas of the city with their own Village Planning Committees, which make recommendations to the Phoenix City Council about the areas' needs, growth, and progress. These are definitely distinct from Phoenix's City Council Districts.
There are 15 Urban Villages in the Phoenix Area. As you drive around Phoenix you will see road signs denoting which Village you are entering. I remember when I first moved to Phoenix in 1985 I had no idea of what the Village thing was all about! Now I attend Village Update Meetings. It is quite fascinating to hear about all the different areas and what's happening in each.
