Ok folks, don't get too excited. If you wanted to really know what transpired, please read on. Very strange but true. My office manager strips and opens all incoming packages (fedex, ups, 1st class mail, etc) BEFORE handing them to the appropriate agents. I thought this was kind of odd. It had never happened previously and this has recently occurred in the past 5 months or so. Personally, I feel that is an invasion of privacy from the office manager standpoint. After discovering that all packages delivered to my office were all OPENED and taped back up, I questioned the receptionist and was informed that the office manager had instructed her to pass all incoming mail packages to her before they are delivered to the agents. What?!

I don't know but this sounded rather strange. I was in a previous office and this had never happened. NEVER. EVER. I asked a few agents from other offices and they agreed with me. Are times this tough that the office manager had to snoop around just to make sure that their agents are not being recruited? This is my suspicion for this obscure behavior which I had validated through the receptionist. What are you thoughts on this? This is quite peculiar. If I get a package from the escrow company, am I being recruited to work for this escrow company?? Why would she open the escrow package or any package for that matter? Makes no sense whatsoever and this feels like a violation.

Jim,

I think her actions would be far beyond being a snoop.  Perhaps it is time to find another place to work.

Hi Richard, you summed it up well. This is an invasion of privacy. Will be looking into this and give an update later. This doesn't quite jive with me as being a legal act.

This is entirely unnecessary and probably borderline illegal.  You should send yourself a package with something in it that she'd be displeased at finding.  Perhaps a blown up copy of the verbiage about it being a federal offense to open other people's mail along with some week old halibut.
