I was explaining to a client the advantages and disadvantages of renting.  I decided to write a post about this intriguing subject. The post bombed , not one comment, not even a pity comment.

As I read posts, where the author worries about being featured, I applaud those fellow ActiveRain posters that long for the pity comment.

After posting 469 posts you realize, not everything will warrant a comment, let alone a feature tag...

Some times you have to wonder if maybe the post goes up at the wrong time of day. With 469 posts you can not have had too many that got no recognition, and this now is not one of them.

The majority of posts I write geared more toward information for the consumer rarely, if ever, receive comments.  It does get tiresome to see so many people write about how they never get featured with hopes of getting enough attention to get featured for complaining about it...That probably made absolutely no sense...Anyway...I wouldn't take it personally.  I would like to see more people without AR accounts comment on the information I post that's geared towards them.  It would help me know what they like to see and what they don't.  I'm probably rarely even being read by them though, so I suppose you have to have pretty high search engine ranking and a good following to have that happen though.

Hi Paul - Here's a comment since you need a comment.  Now you have two comments.  As you are very likely aware, there are many posts that do not get comments on, either because they are very localized or not easily found.  It could also be the time of day.  I recently posted some blogs in the Name that Photo group late at night and received several comments within the first couple of hours.  But the next day I hardly received any.  I'm just waiting for some of my usual commentators to find it since they seem to be less active in the summer on ActiveRain.

Sometimes, people tend to read the posting but not comment.  You can always tell by viewing your statistics.

Sometimes I think it is the time of day that gets the most attention...

Great idea having a pity comment on your post. I actually think the average comments on a blog are maybe around 3-5 but the re-commenting by the blogger takes it to about 10 total...  So if you comment back to each of us, this is an average blog post... LOL

Hi Paul, I think it also has to do with the time of the day. Look at the bright side. It gave you a reason to write another post. Have a great day!

Paul there are somedays I write a very interesting post, and get almost no responses.  Then other days I write a quick rant and get a feature out of it

Hi Paul, I enjoy reading your blog.  I would have found an article on the advantages vs. disadvantages of renting very interesting. I write quite a bit about investing in real estate, renting, etc., and sometimes I find that these posts get fewer comments than my other posts.  Keep on writing .... you're doing a great job, and rest assured people are reading... many more read posts than comment on them.  Someone may find that post in a week or two, and decide to call you up, because you knew what you were talking about...but they may not write a comment.

Paul if it were not for pity comments, I would not get any at all...

There's nothing lonlier than a posting without comment.  When I see "0" comments, something draws me to the post.  I always leave a comment when I can.

Don't feel bad Paul. Sometimes it just depends on the mood of your readers and also the time of day the post is delivered. You have written many wonderful things and shared some great pics too. Let this one post go. :-)

GOOD MORNING PAUL!  Well thank goodness you are getting the same comment from "Keara" that I getting from Immanuel and Bonzuma!  It's one way to get a comment!  Ha ha ha! -- Gabrielle
