marine ceremony                             marine/tank                        helicopter

As I've mentioned here before we are located near Camp LeJeune Marine Base in Jacksonville, NC.  Thus, we have the opportunity of seeing and hearing the military planes and helicopters as they fly in the area practicing and perfecting their skills.

We also hear and feel the revibrations of the bombing exercises as they are happening on the base.   The noise level can be quite loud and  even disturbing at times but it must be kept in prospective.

When Buyers ask about the noises, I say  "That, my friend, is the sound of freedom--it is your US military protecting you, your family and your way of life, never take it for granted".  This usually brings a solemn look, an awkward silence and finally a look of understanding.

I've heard some area agents say that they dread the questions about the noise and activity, not me--I embrace it as an opportunity to show support for our military.

My respect for our men and women in the military continues to grow.  The more I live among them, work, play and worship with them; the more understanding I have of their dedication and service to our country.

Let me suggest that when you see a military plane, convoy or a person in uniform that you take a moment and think about what sacrifices that Marine, Soldier, Sailor or Airman in that plane, truck or uniform has made for YOU.

Cynthia, Thank you for the dose of reality. In a former life, as a Regional Account Manager for Delta Airlines, I would call on these wonderful "customers" at the SATO Travel Department at Camp LeJeune in Jacksonville, NC. Each time I entered the base. I too was reminded of the ultimate sacrifice these young men and women make putting themselves in harms way to protect the freedoms I enjoy and too often take for granted. Your post just prior to the 4th of July is timely and much appreciated. The men and women who currently (and years past) serve our country are more than opportunities to support our living, they are brave people we should support with every resource at our disposal including our prayers. I appreciate our troops and thank God they have made the supreme choice to protect the way of life we all enjoy! Keep the reminders coming!
