Real Estate Agent with Century 21 Coastal Realty Ltd.

I have just started to read the book "WIKINOMICS- How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything" by Don Tapscott and Anthony Williams. The book talks about the affects of web2.0 on the world economy and how online communities are changing the way products and services are created and delivered to the end user. Some of us in the real estate industry are taking advantage of the web2.0, but I think the involvement of the users of our services in our online communities is not as much as there is in some other industries. More interaction with potential clients through blogs, forums, websites will mean more business.

** If you are writing a comment, plz write at least 1 suggestion about how we can get the public to interact with us online. (Not just lead collection.)

My suggestion: Write more about new developments in your neighborhood. IE, a new subdivision or construction of a new condo building.

I've been amazed at the response to my blogging.  I never would have thought that people would actually read any of the stuff that I wrote, but AR changed my opinion of that.  As far as the public goes, I'm still not getting a ton of response, but have gotten better response when I have written about things that will actually help people buy or sell a home.  In other words, I gave them something of value.

Just the other day I got my first lead from a blog that I posted on Localism.  It was an entailed article on buying vs. renting.  He did the formula that I provided with his numbers and saw that he was better off buying and he emailed me!  Yeah!

So, that would be my suggestion.  Give the people something of value, not just an ad for your services.
