I heard loud helicoptors right above my house and ran out to my patio and ....there it is right above me! I locked up my house and ran to the back park and watched the two helicopters get low enough to scoop water into their hanging buckets.

The fire department is there, the police are everywhere... and the big 'pool' of water kept filling up through the large hoses. Neighbors started gathering around and we all were taking pictures of this site.

Yellow one, blue one gathering buckets of water; flying a few blocks away to dump the water on three brush fires on the other side of Costco.  100 acres have burned so far.

Sally, I hope that they get the fire out quickly!  No one needs the devastation that fire can bring!

The fires have been slow burning but due to the pick up in wind activity it started blazing. As soon as I heard about the fires I hoofed it down to shop at Costco (before they started blocking traffic....which they didn't) and came home to helicopters all over. Pretty exciting to have them yards away scooping water. :)  (we don't get out much here lol)

Hi Sally... YIKES!  It would be a tragedy for the fires to scar the beauty of nature in your area.  I hope they get them extinguished fast!

The craziest was a couple of weeks ago when the started a big fire at the Water Park.  I was there with the family for a graduation party.

Oh, my Gosh.

Hopefully it gets contained ASAP.

Hawaii is one of the most beautiful places and to lose any of it's beauty would be a tragedy.

Sally, you got some good shots and an unusual topic for your blog. I have no doubt that the firefighters will get the fire under control and new plant life will grow where the fire burned. Hopefully, no homes have been lost.

Interesting to see how they obtain the water. Lots of excitement in your neighborhood.

It is great how they can lift that much weight.  Water is not exactly light or easy to transport.  Nice pics and the sky is incredible.  Hope you are well. Just back from vacation and trying to focus myself!  Have a good Wednesday.

Those brush fires can be very unpredictable, so please be careful if you live near the site.  :)  It's kind of amazing how they fill those buckets and the timing involved for the release.  Kind of like a dance that you're not allowed to miss a step in.  Stay safe, my friend.  We need you here!

Sis - Wow!  I've never experienced this and while the photos are beautiful (as always), the prospects can be very scary with these.  Take care, my dear.

That's got to be a wild happening so close to home. Hope they knock out those fires soon.

The brush fire was contained after a few hours. This happened a couple years ago in the same area. It's a few blocks away but on the other side of the freeway so it'd have to jump pretty far to come on our side.

Exciting Tuesday afternoon :)

Sally- I am glad this is under containment. Fires do so much damage and smell bad too. I am glad you are safe also.
