I am totally new to this blogging and online networking thing. Does anyone have any tips or advice to share? Are only agents and industry professionals on this site or do consumers interact and ask questions too?

Ahhh, now I see the Localism.com to post to consumers. Do you generally post your blog to both to get the most searches and activity?

Danielle - you can start by joining the ActiveRain Newbies Group. There's a weatth of really great info there.

You will find value in writing posts for both consumers and your fellow professionals. Buy you'll definitely want to begin creating some good quality consumer-oriented posts for potential clients to find you on Localism.

Feel free to ask any questions along the way....

I am pretty new at this too, but I find it is helpful to subscribe to blogs of people who seem to know what they are doing.

Do you generally post your blog to both to get the most searches and activity?

Danielle, it depends on the subject. If I write an article about an event in my community, then I post it only to localism. For example, the Farmers Market.  Otherwise I'll post it only here on ActiveRain.  Some topics are suitable for both. You be the judge.  And yes, people actually do find us here through this site, and ask questions. I got an email just last week.  Good luck.

Danielle- I second Rich's advice on joining the newbies group. There are a TON of great posts there. You can also do a keyword search on the blog page for any specific items and that will bring up the posts relating to your search. Good Luck!

When you post be sure to right things that people searching google for real estate news would want to read, be sure to use the key words, and put a few links to your sources as well as one to yourself in each post.

Welcome to ActiveRain, Danielle! While most of the content here has been provided by agents and those in real estate related industries, there is growing consumer readership. Give the search engines well-written, quality content and consumers will find you. Also, be sure to check out ActiveRain Community Resources to help you get started.

Danielle,

I wanted to stop in and say WELCOME to Active Rain.  Looks like the posts above me have directed you to the newbies group.  That will help guide you on posts, points and adding pictures.  You might also want to use the "search" feature for specific information.  Enjoy!  This is a great place.

Thanks for all the great advice. It does seem like a great place. I have been surfing around AR all evening yesterday, it can be addictive! But, I found a lot of great info and friendly people.
