Trey,

I like the photo.  And the title is great.  But now I have a question.  I am building a house for my Mom in the mountains of Wyoming.  A couple of nights ago we had a raccoon raid the bird feeders and then the next night we saw it on the porch.  My Mom's cat wanted to go outside, but we didn't let it.  Now my Mom is really worried that the cat won't come in to the house in the evening and that the raccoon might hurt it.  I don't know anything about raccoons.  Do you have any advice for us?

Hi Trey... Fun shot!  Did you really get that close or were you just zoomed in from a distance?  Racoons are fun to look at but scare me because of the rabies.

Trey:  This looks like a scene from own garage.  Leave cat food out for our outdoor Gray Kitty and one of these critters are eating it when I come out.  Gray Kitty is about as upset as your kitty when it happens.  Just sits there and watches.  When the raccoon is gone, he cries at the door for more food.

I know they eat meat including small mamals...I don't know about cats.  A small raccoon can easdly take on a large dog.

Steve,

The coon was within 8 feet. I was shooting through a glass door.  They do get rabies. All  our pets are vaccinated including me...no kidding even though it has been 3 years. LOL

Thanks  Tony and Darci

Such a cute coon,  is he a pet now? He sure looks at home even with the cat nearby!

I have one of those cry babies too. :)

Caron

No , he is not a pet even though he THINKS he is one of the crew. We did have a pet one once.. I don't recomend them, especially if small children are around. they are flippant.

Trey, we can tell who's the dominant animal here with the bandit mask.

I hope they are friends...

I hear that those raccoons can be very tough?

Trey - What a cutie!  You ought to name her Bandita:-)  You're right about racoons taking n other small animals.  We had one to tangle with a pet duck once.  It cost us quite a bit in vet bills to patch up our duck.

What an adorable shot!  Funny how yor cat is just watching and letting the raccoon just eat her food.  Kinda like she knows she would lose that battle.

Poor kitty, bad raccoon.  I think you will have to put out two food bowls.

Jim

I think they know who the dominant one is.

Angelia

Last night a possum showed up too! Do we need 3 bowls?

Cindy

They can be mean for sure. But the cats are quicker and get out of the way.
