Oconee Co. Covered BridgeThis is what I love about living in a rural county -

In yesterday's police blotter there was an item about a rogue billy goat, apparently trying to impress the two nannies that were with him, broke the glass in 2 church doors on a rural Oconee County, GA church.  He also damaged 2 windows for a total of about $1000 in damage.  No one claimed the goats so they were left in the custody of the church's preacher.

Hmm, wonder if they are having a bar-b-cue this weekend?

Paul, if that was the only item on the police blotter, Oconee sounds like an idyllic place.  My own town has had a rash of breakins recently.  Last weekend 9 cars were broken into and items stolen and 2 homes were broken into (while their owners slept), and in our little town that hasn't had any breakins in 4 years is up in arms with this recent occurance.  I hope it isn't a sign of the times.

June,

We actually have a few break-ins from time to time.  Most of our crime is shoplifters from a neighboring county shop-lifting at Wal-Mart & Kohl's.

I'm sure that the goats owner's are really embarrassed over this whole thing and just don't want to have to come up with $1000 to fix the damage.  At least the church grass won't have to be cut for awhile :)

Hi Paul ~ Reading the police blotter in the suburban town I grew up in was hugely entertaining. This also reminds me of what happened when I was in college in NYC.  One night our phone ended up getting crossed with the NYC 911 number.  For hours I sat there and listened to all the calls.  It was quite something.  With all that was happening - a lot believe me - the only thing that got a rise out of the dispatcher was a call about a goat runnng around in one of the subway stations.  Shootings, knife-wielding guys, you name it - he was very blase - it was the goat that tumbled his gyros.
