Am I Paying the Price...Now My Blog Is Being Targeted...

Last week I wrote a blog about a new email scam regarding messages I've been receiving that appear to be some type of spam or attempt at something malicious...I caught on after responding to a couple of the messages.

This morning I go to check my email when I see have a comment on one of my market reports...I go to read it and it's about mud shoes or something, I don't know it didn't even make sense. I just received another comment on another of my posts about patio furniture? WHAT???? Again the comment was a garbled bunch of random talk about patio furniture. They both contain links, DO NOT CLICK ON THEM!

So now my question is...Am I going to be bombarded with bogus comments as a result of answering those bogus emails or is this some other new scam? Anyone else getting wacko garbled comments with links in them (probably with a virus or attempt to hack your puter) on their blog?

I clicked the "Report a concern" button on these comments, should I delete them or wait to see if AR needs to look at them before I delete???

Here's weirdo comment #1:

Weirdo comment #2:

Could you help me. Over the years your bodies become walking autobiographies, telling friends and strangers alike of the minor and major stresses of your lives. Help me! There is an urgent need for sites: Diore patio furniture. I found only this - (AGAIN, THIS WAS A LINK BUT I REMOVED IT) Patio furniture chair back cushions. One of the biggest problems that some people experience with outdoor patio furniture is the fact that moisture can easily get into these pieces and could cause a lot of damage. Interesting, so it seems this is not a result of responding to the emails but something new that's targeting many of us here on AR....

I got these too...last night. The best thing to do is to go to your comments page and simply delete them...as quickly as possible. Who knows if they're just spam or a malicious attack?

Either way, I get rid of the ASAP!

I went ahead and deleted the comments after clicking the "report a concern" link. I feel better knowing it's not just me that was being targeted. I thought I was paying the price for answering those emails a week or two ago...

Hi I got hit too. I deleted them especially when they had a link and had no bearing on the blog. I think they hope bloggers do not goback and check their blogs for comments ( on the old blogs ) I am interested as to what is going on. Thanks for the post because I was also wondering

Chanda, we're all getting those spam comments and it should not have anything to do with you replying to that email you recieved. I received the same type of email (from the same sender) and did not reply to it.

Way to go! I have not gotten any of these Comments! I have received emails saying they are from active Rain. Then a red warning when you open it says it may not be from the person they claim to be! Or something like that! Good for you for reporting and deleting them.

Chanda - I got one about credit reports with a bunch of words that didn't make sense. Something about I had to help them because they had bad credit with a link that looked like one of the credit agencies. I reported it and deleted it. Please don't anyone click on these links they must be either phising links or viruses/worms/key loggers etc.

The key phrase seems to be "help me" in each of these comments. I have been reporting them and deleting them. It seems we have all caught on and hopefully they aren't getting whatever it is they are after.

I probably shouldn't say anything, but I only had the three that I got yesterday....I did report it to AR and they said to make sure you always click the "Report a Concern" link so they can block the IP addy.

Chanda, we were getting them too. Then we read a post that suggested turn off the button that allows "non members" and the comments disappeared!
