It was a perfect weekend getaway, just what I needed in the middle of an incredibly busy time. Last weekend I traveled with my good friend Anne Hruby to Detroit for the Summer Forum with The Floyd Wickman Team. What fun meeting new people and reconnecting with old friends. (Be sure to read Dean Moss' blog about it, too.)

Dean Moss and Floyd Wickman with lucky me in the middle

Slide -Ask the ExpertsI was fortunate to take my first Floyd Wickman course in 1991 – back then they called it "SweatHogs." Since then I've been a Floyd fan, and try to connect with him when I can. So what is a "Forum for Master Salespeople?" It is a gathering (twice a year, summer and winter) to publicly help everyone hit their goals. It was an active participation, open discussion, with asking and answering some special questions - and with a great deal of enthusiasm. As you see in the photos, everyone was intensely involved in our round table discussions. So much  wisdom shared by so many successful Realtors. There were topics for discussion like "Best Money Making Ideas," and the ideas flowed!

Bob Daniel, Jim Byrnes, Shannon Gadbois Shannon Gadbois, Dee Nofziger Julie K Ray-Ritchie, Jim Galligan

Social Media was also one of the topics, and I was asked by Mike Pallin of the Floyd Wickman Team to speak about none other than  ActiveRain. There was plenty of interest as I shared some of the ways AR has been a big part of my real estate business in the past three years. There were lots of questions, and I asked for business cards from those who wanted to try AR so I could send them an invitation. Little did I know there would be so many interested! The first night back I sent out a bunch of AR invitations, late as it was.

REO and Short Sales Panel

We had a terrific panel discussion about REO and Short Sales led by Mary Johnson. With so many agents around the country experiencing lower income and depressed markets, this was the absolute best time to get back to basics.

Presentation to Floyd by the Rat Pack

Of course it wasn't all work. There was also a lot of fun stuff, too, with karaoke on Friday night, and presentation of an award to Floyd by The Rat Pack. Saturday was dinner at Buce Di Beppi with mounds of delicious food, drink, laughter, and above all friendship.

Maria, Imad, Sonia Nelson, Bob, Mary

I wonder how many ActiveRainers have taken a session with Floyd? Can we find out? We have Floyd Wickman and the "You Get By Giving" philosophy in common. Anyone reading this who has been a part of a Floyd Wickman course, or knows someone who has, can we connect again?

Do you recognize any ActiveRainers in the photos above?

There are several "sweathogs" in the office, and they have shared some of their knowledge with the rest of us.  Glad you had the opportunity to go get inspired and have fun to boot.

Margaret, thanks for taking time to communicate this entire event and your trip to Detroit for all of us. Floyd is a legend in real estate training, coaching, and business building for sure. Glad you got to provide your expert thoughts about real estate and especially Social Media like Active Rain.

Kathleen, You owe it to yourself to find a Floyd session or a least get some of his material. He has great tapes and CDs.  BTW are you related to Bob Daniels?

Dana, Are those "sweathog" agents also on AR? Would love to know who they are.

Gary, My pleasure.  Did you ever take one of Floyd's classes?

Joan, It was a pleasure to speak to this group of wonderful agents. And I love sharing my wonderful experience of ActiveRain with special people.

Margaret - This looks like it was a wonderful event.  Whatever the subject it is a success if you come away with one new thing that you can use in your business.  And it looks like with this group you could learn a lot.

Margaret, I have listened to Floyd Wickman tapes in the past. They're great.  When I was with ERA over 10 years ago they had a TopGun class that was similar. 8 weeks of very hard, but productive, work. I'll check in my office. I think we have a sweathog or two. But I don't think they're on AR.

I need a good teaching event to kick me in the @#$ jump start me these days! LOL

Hi ya Margaret, you know, I hate to say this, but I've never heard of Floyd Wickman. Although, I'm not a big seminar goer. I have little patience, I guess. I'd want to pick up the pace and snap my fingers, "Let's get the show moving, folks." I prefer to read. Like your book, Margaret -- loved your book!

Elizabeth, I can't think of a nicer thing for you to say!

Margaret, I did Sweathogs many years ago and had a ball.  Well, I couldn't help it since I got annoyed at all the casually clad 30-something males in the room who turned their nose up at this ol' has-been.  So I showed them...

I won every award available at the end of the class.  One of the top producers in my company, who knew I was no threat to his standing (because of my own life-style choice, not my capability), went out and dug up 10 listings the last week in a push to beat me, and he failed.  I've never been that productive before or since, but someone had to stand up for the old pros in our industry!

It would be fun to attend a Wickman event... maybe it would inspire me again.  Thanks for the idea.

Margaret, You could still show those guys a thing or two!

You would love going to one of Floyd's sessions. How about January 8 and 9th? You would have a ball and be inspired once again!

Margaret!  I can not believe you were at the Forum I had to miss - dang it - that figures!  :-(  Well I loved reading the post and looking at your pics.  Of course, I recognize everyone!  Ha!  I'm sure it takes a good deal of planning for you to travel so even though I wasn't there I'm very glad you were.  Congrats on the book success by the way!  I need to get a copy and review it on my blog for you.

Hey Connie Harvey:  We should talk.  I worked with KW last year in Nashville and just love the city; it would be a pleasure to come back for Prudential one day.  Sweathogs is the legacy and even though we don't use that name anymore it's a dream for me getting to expose a whole new generation to Floyd Wickman.

Margaret, Detroit is such a great place to hold these conferences - there are no distractions!  I did a 2-week Bill Barret thing there years ago, and we were mostly to chicken to leave the Renaissance Center except to go to dinner in Greek Town across the street!  Sounds like you learned a lot.
