Going to Cancun and Need a Write-Off

My family and I are going to Cancun next Tuesday. I would like to hook up with a referral company that I can advertise on my website. And, I would like to use the trip as a buisness write off. We will for sure be having our annual meeting for my S-Corp there.

Any ideas on how I can hook up with a referral company in Mexico?

And now this has me thinking, since they are in Mexico (another country) I should be able to receive a referral fee outside of the brokerage rules in the U.S.?

This really does not apply to me because I am the broker anyway, but I am just thinking today.

Hi Rhonda, Cancun sounds like a great place for your meeting. You "should" be able to get a referral fee but I don't know if a referral agreement would be enforcable since it is in another country. Let us know what you find out.

What happens if the IRS sees this blog? you plan the trip prior to a business reason and hunt for a way to use it as a write off???

Just thinking out loud, but that is what I was thinking as I read it.

I have to admit that I thought the same thing Robert wrote. It's unlikely, but not impossible.

But have a great time in Mexico!!

Hi Rhonda and be sure to take some time off to look at available properties there for future clients. When I went I looked a several hotels, of course I had to spend a night or two to see if my investors might be interested. Since I don't fly the cruise ship was the cheapest transportation avaiable.
