Yes, my favorite theme....taking a day off each week to be with My Guy and enjoy this fantastic state we live in! I remember when I first got into this business, years ago - it was 7 days a week and the phone was on 24 hours a day so I would not miss a call - What was wrong with me??? I call it Newbie Syndrome -

Now I take either Saturday or Sunday off almost each and every week  -  that is the day I spend with My Guy! Time for us to go fishing or work around the house . . . the point is, it is OUR TIME and it is important! Time to recharge our batteries and smell the roses!!!

As far as that cell phone ringing at all hours of the night, it gets turned off around 8pm and does not get turned on again until around 8 am - anything that comes while it is off can go into voice mail! If my kids need me, they have Ron's cell phone number for emergencies - and they are the ONLY ones I have given that number to.

As realtors, we tend to forget that we need down time too! If you don't have a day a week that you set aside for yourself, you are making a big mistake! Life is too short not to take time to enjoy it!

Barbara- This is the most important thing agents need to do and most don't do. They are so afraid of missing that one dream client. Unfortunately, that is a scarcity mentality. There is abundance, more than enough, always. I take Sundays off and since I can remember always have. And my business has been blessed because of this decision. I have not ever missed out on anything. The other thing is clients respect this. They get a day off and expect that we do also. Katerina

All work and no play makes Barbara a dull girl!

I agree that we all need to have a bit of a schedule with time specifically for ourselves, with out it we will burn out too easily!

Katerina - Indeed, and they need to be reminded that we do have a life outside of showing homes. Family - in my opinion, the most important part of life!

Robert - You are right - pass the word so everyone else knows and takes time off too!!!  :-)

I try and work smart and not long hours....the main reason to take the risk of self-employment is the reward of time.

Everyone needs time to relax and recharge, so it should be a priority to take care of yourself at least once a week.

You're right, BarbaraJo.  IF there is an upside to the current real estate market, it is that we're finally able to take some time off.

Very good points.

We are not heart surgeons! Almost EVERYTHING will wait a few hours or even a day! It's okay to turn off the phone during church or a movie!

My husband and I enjoy a date night every week or two. It's worked for us for 37 years now!
