I just recieved an update from the Florida Association of Realtors® -

The first story was titled 'Property Taxes' and it started out this way:

"The Florida Legislature knows how it will reform property taxes. Now it needs details."

We all know that Florida will make some big changes to Property Taxes-

Kinda - sorta - one of these days -maybe .......

If you'd like more info on the article just click here: House, Senate leaders agree on basics of property tax relief .

I'd rather have you all read the article then my condensation of it - it's always better straight from the horses' mouth.

What do YOU think of the latest ideas?

The Fort Myers News Press (Sunday Addition) featured a single mother and her child and an entire profile of the tax situation on their home.  Reform is needed so tax is balanced for everyone.

Chris-

Reform is certainly needed - the question is when and what form will it take?

If the politicians have anything to do with it it will be slow to come and, most likely, moronic.

Maggie-

You know I'd do anything for you - but I do have a hard time deciphering 'politician'......

Hi Marc, I wish they'd shut up and get on with it.  Aren't we just sooooooo over all this pandering yet?  Its like they are trying to make it look like they are going to do something.  An article in our local paper recently detailed how the counties are lobbying the legislature to NOT cut taxes in each respective county.  So who do you think they are going to listen to?  The county with the clout, or us little people?

By the tone of the article, I was a little encouraged, as it seems that the lawmakers seem to be communicating with each other and trying to work together. I am not sure the last time I read any piece of journalism about taxes that made me feel that way.  In specific the tiered exemption policy sounds interesting. I would like to see some number crunching comparisons on that one.  Terry brings up an important point, which is how exactly are they planning on keeping the fiscal needs of smaller communities, while balancing the needs of individual homeowners.  The resolution of that issue I believe will be the major factor in determining what kind of relief we will actually see manifest.  I am optimistic.

Terry-

Well said!

They need to make it look like they are doing something.

It seems like a bunch of kids fighting in a sandbox most of the time!

Rebecca-

Very well said- BUT

You need to add a few lies and a little mis-direction if you are ever going to make it to President!
