I'm not a bird watcher, but since I've had the Oscar Scherer State Park in Osprey FL in my backyard, I've become increasingly aware of birds. I'm fascinated by them, so maybe someday, I'll become a full fledged "birder".
Yesterday evening I saw this crazy looking bird. Kinda looks like a cross between a Heron and a puffin. Here's a picture.
Has anyone ever seen such a funky bird? Look at that wierd think coming out of its head. WHAT IS THAT? I was so fascinated by this bird. He/she was so intent on catching the fish that he never moved. He stood perfectly still and didn't budge an inch. This went on for a good two hour period, and who knows how much longer...I got a little bored with it, to be honest with you.
I went to http://www.WhatBird.com and put in all the criteria for this strange bird, but never could come up with anything even close to it.
It's driving me crazy.
So, I'm asking..no I'm pleading...ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BIRDS? Can any of you identify this strange, but beautiful creature?
Isn't he/she endearing?
