On April 18th of this year, I wrote a blog "Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) CT Families New Refinance Program" on a new Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) program called CT Families.

On July 10th Governor Rell signed a bill which expands the eligibility for the CT FAMLIES program. The new legislation now allows for delinquent homeowners with any type of mortgage (fixed rate mortgages, adjustable rate mortgages, interest only mortgages, etc) to be eligible to refinance under this program. Previously, only delinquent homeowners with Adjustable Rate Mortgages were eligible.

This should provide additional help to families who have fallen behind on their mortgages to be able to refinance into what many times will be a below market interest rate.

Please note that all other guidelines for the CT FAMLIES Program remain the same. Follow the link to get the details on this program "Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) CT Families New Refinance Program."

Joan, I know they do not have a lot of money in this program, but if it helps a few then it is worth it.

George,

Does that mean it is tough to qualify?

Ann in one sense yes, because of the qualifying ratios, but they will also look beyond the black and white figures and take into consideration why the person got into trouble in the first place.

George, thanks for this informtion.  I have emailed a link to those folks that I know would love to look into this opportunity.  We are so lucky to have Governor Rell in our state and on the side of the consumer, not going with the flow of the other politicians who want to tax us to death!

Frances they have tried to put money into this program, but given the states financial status they were not able to do as much as they would have liked, but it will help a few.
