Child WonderIn being the best YOU for your clients and your family

Learn To Keep Your Child Like Wonder.

As a baby we take in all the food Mommy feeds us in the high chair. We soak in all language skills, and everything that is new and fresh around us. Into early adulthood we tend to cruise a little bit with the learning but it is really more choice than purely natural. Our brains are running probably at only 10% of capacity. Work on

  • 1) Eliminating most fears. They get in the way of more learning.
  • 2) Develop good habits. Commit to being a continual learner of new ways.
  • 3) Have an open mind mindset. Don't turn into an old coot thinking you've been there, done that, know everything.
  • 4) Finally, and one most people don't do, hang around part of the time with people YOUNGER than yourself. They may just show you their latest frog they caught and want you to help them count the warts.

I think I've mentioned in the past that I've been spending more time with my nephew (almost 3 years old) the past several months. It really is an adventure to watch him as he discovers the simplest of things -- his shadow, the feel of sand between his toes, the flowers "drinking" their water... He reminds me constantly to simply stop and take notice of all the wonder around us. It does keep you fresh and makes you feel good when you pay attention to the many wonders and blessings that are around us.

Gary - Great post again!  I've been wondering as I read your posts everyday, if you have the idea for your blog posts first, and then just happen to find the perfect pictures to go along with it, or if you start with the picture and build your post around it.

Hi Gary,

Hanging around with people younger than you is always a safe bet! Our youngest granddaughter is such a hoot to be around and keep us "in the know". Her "strike a pose" is taught to us so we can be "cool!" She shows us the right music to put on our ipod and the right hand signs for certain phrases like "Get out of here!"

Lose the fear and keep the rest. Love the picture of the huge frog. My wife was trying to catch a really big toad in our front yard a few nights ago.

Hey Gary, I love to hang out with people who are younger -- from 5 to 45.. but then I think Grandpa would be a better wart counter than I  LOL!!

My favorite is hanging out with the younger crowd once in a while. last week at a graduation party I played volleyball with mostly 20 year olds and I had a blast. Paid for it the next day with aching legs but it was worth it.

Gary,

Making good habits part of your vocabulary is great. That's something to strive for. There is so much new stuff coming down that it sometimes becomes just a blur, hard to keep up with.

Yes, younger people have alot more to deal with these days and they take it in stride.  I admire them.

So true but I have to admit that I think I'd be a little fearful of the huge frog.
