Monika....  I soooo love the beach also... I also like sometimes when it is rainy and quiet on the beach....  no crowds. But I also love when it is sunny, not a cloud in the sky. I was very fortunate to have been down at the beach the last two weekends and for the most part...great weather and not as crowded as one would think, Even during memorial day weekend. I was shocked, but happy. And overall, I sometimes love that lazy day down at the beach when it's cold and rainy, to hang in and relax some...surrounded by water.

Best Seafood Chowder in New England, Moni we had fun even if it was cloudy, drizzly, windy, raw and foggy. 

Jeff...Thanks so much for commenting. The love of the ocean is a powerful pull. I can't imagine living someplace where I'm not near it! Wonder why the traffic is down...gas prices you think?

Jay...We should have bought extra and brought it home to freeze. 

Monika.... not sure....I am sure that gas prices has something to do with it. But you being a realtor, haven't you seen more rentals available the last several years?  I think it could be a combination of things. But honestly, it didn't bother me any.  Less crowded, more of a place to pick out on the beach.  ;o)

Jeff...I agree I like the smaller crowds. Jay and I went to Boothbay Harbor on Memorial Day weekend and I thought the numbers were down as well.

Hey Monika and Jay - you were just minutes from me on your trek norh along the ocean!  You should stopped by or called and we could have caught up with each other!  And I should have mentioned that during our morning emails, too.  Shame on me!! 

I LOVE driving along the ocean.  It's just a couple of minutes from me, and I never ever tire of it.  We have the smallest coastline in America, but it's ours and we certainly are fortunate to live where we do, that's for sure!

We should have another summer cookout at my house so you can get back over here - hopefully on a nice sunny day!   ;-)

Ines...The motor home has a queen size bed in the back, a couch that pulls out to a double bed, a single couch plus room on the floor for an air mattress. I think we could fit all 5 of you.

Happy Birthday to Jay.  I love the coast and the ocean.  When my husband decided to move from San Francisco I was so glad to know that we would be near the ocean.  I love visiting the seacoast -- whether it is the Atlantic or the Pacific!

Monika - nope, but we did get some heavy stuff done before we called it a day.  Got some stumps pulled out of the ground from bushes we had cut down.  That was some hard work, but we got them out.  Now it's just the easy part - planting new things in those places, which are sitting on the back sidewalk soaking up all this rain, rain, and more rain.

Where's the picture of the spoon in the chowder??

Yes, please post a photo with the spoon!!   I love seafood chowder.  I love lobster bisque too.  And corn chowder.  And Clam Chowder.  Ok...now I'm hungry and it's time for bed.

Monika, I can deal with anything except cold water - I like my ocean warm and soup-like.

Ines...a little cold water won't hurt you. I think this past weekend the water temp at the beach was about 45 degrees... a bit on brisk side. I have a wet suit you can use :)

BRISK??  OMG!  I can't even go in 85 degree water, are you kidding me.  That ocean is for Penguins - I will definitely take the wetsuit.

LOL...I can't believe you!  Truth be told I don't go in this time of year...I wait till it hits about 60 degrees before I put my toes in.

I live about 30 min from the beach..we used to sped lots of time there when we lived in NY but hardly make it there now. Just too busy with the family life to get there...we are actually on our way back from vacation in AZ and will be posting some pictures from the trip when we return..but I think next time we visit the Canyon we wont be flying there...a bit too bumpy for us...but was a great experience.

i've been able to bounce around NH tonight thanks to all of you wonderful bloggers.
