One should keep in mind that the Congressional Budget Office is non-partisn! Congressional Budget Office Director Elmendorf tells Ways and Means that: "The coverage proposals in this legislation would expand federal spending on health care to a significant degree. And in our analysis so far, we dont see other provisions in this legislation reducing federal health spending by a corresponding degree." Category: News & Politics

I think the debate is heathy and we should not rubber stamp the President nor should we do nothing. I am looking forward to some sane proposals to correct an insane situation

A company can increase its profits by increasing revenue or by decreasing costs.  In good times, a company may focus more on revenue, but in bad times it may focus more on expenses.  However, a focus on expenses can always be worthwhile, because it provides more return for the dollar.  A dollar increase in revenue does not provide a dollar increase in profit, because it has associated costs, however a dollar decrease in costs will have a dollar increase in profit.  There is, of course, a limit as to how far a company can reduce its costs, therefore it tends to focus more on revenue, nonetheless, any reasonable company and this includes most, will focus on its efficiencies to reduce its costs.  This is true for companies which actually have a bottom line for which they must be concerned; this does not include the government.  People who think that the government will make health care more efficient are fooling themselves.  Government will always find another source of money, typically taxpayers, regardless of normal business financial concerns.  With the current discussions about health care, talks are already being made about increasing taxes.

We have enough precedent over the last few months to know the answer to that one.  It is not about improved savings or service.  Hopefully the public will take their blinders off before we are in massive trouble.  We had enough of slamming stuff down our throats by the last administration and here we go again........

Massachusetts is a prime example of how this type of system fails miserably!  That state is in all kinds of disaray because of their healthcare "experiement".  Many, many, according to statistics can't even GET IN TO SEE A DOCTOR now!  Everyone IS NOT insured.  The estimates for coverage were GROSSLY underestimated.  What's new right?  This IS government we are talking about.  It would be funny if it weren't so tragic.

Because of its own rising costs, the state government has cut payments to doctors and hospitals. According to family physician Dr. Katherine Atkinson, the state insurance reimbursements often do not cover her expenses: "[E]very time I have a Medicaid patient it's like handing them a $20 bill when they leave."20

"As a result of these rising costs and falling revenues, access to medical care has dwindled for many patients. Fewer doctors are willing to take on new patients for fear of losing even more money. Lee Sampson, a 47-year old medical transcriptionist, had to call fifty doctors' offices before she could find one that would take her as a new patient.21 Tamar Lewis, a 24-year old hair stylist, called more than two dozen primary care doctors for a checkup. All of them turned her down, leaving her with no choice but to rely on the community free clinic.22 Patients face long waits for basic medical care-in some cases more than a year for a routine physical exam.23 These long waits are not due to a shortage of doctors. As the New England Journal of Medicine notes, Massachusetts "has the highest physician-to-population ratio of any state, in primary care as well as overall."24 The waits are due to a government policy that discourages physicians from seeing patients-a policy under which seeing patients can mean that physicians lose rather than make money"

Tell CONGRESS NO to being their GUINEA PIGS for this Healthcare Reform EXPERIMENT!!!

Seems as though the Democrats are always cleaning up after the Republicans have accumulated horrendous budget deficits and takes most of their term in office to do so.  Ex: Bill Clinton.  But the Democrats are tired of putting off their agenda, and are now pushing the agenda of Health care reform.  Many of us are literally dying to see that this bill gets passed!  Even if our Government must go into debt, even though this is not another War, Health Care Reform is some thing worth going into debit for!

Could it be that in other countries, like Canada, the most respected and revered Public figure is the individual who brought health care reform to their citizens? Lord help us if the under lying reason the hecklers do not want to see the President's Health care plan go forward is that a Democratic President who also happens to be a black man will get the credit!
