PLAYING LOST AND FOUND WITH MY JOY

By
Real Estate Agent with Dunnigan, Realtors, Sacramento (916) 425-9715 CalBRE # 01188158

I am normally a fairly optimistic, positive person.  However, those of you who chat with me here on the Rain may have noticed a change in attitude.  I have been whining, complaining, ranting...well, you get the idea.

In my funk the other night, I wrote another rant.  Granted, it was probably one of my most challenging real estate days...but that's no excuse.

Then I paused, just for a moment, and realized...I had lost my joy.  I needed to go on a scavenger hunt and find it.  And I did!

Do you know how?  I looked at the other side.  Yes...I had one heck of a day, but at the end I realized that all those problems that had reared their ugly head...had been solved.  Do I hate...and I use the term very accurately...what has happened to our industry with appraisals and desk reviews? You bet!  But, our business is still improving and at least I have some escrows to fret about!

So, if you are like me, and you have lost your joy, go on a scavenger hunt!  You might be amazed at what you find!!!!

The best thing about this business is that we are the only ones who control whether we have a job or not.

You are not alone.  There are definately more challenges for Realtors today.  We need to be informed and get creative.  Happy you are back in your groove!

It is challanging today that is for sure. How we deal with those challenges is what seperates us. It is all about choices and what choices we make. Remember all choices have consequences some are good others not so good. Keep the glass half full.

Serendipity that you wrote this today? I think not. I posted that I received this daily message

The standard of success in life isn't the things.

It isn't the money or the stuff -- it is absolutely the amount of joy you feel.

I posted it because I wasn't finding the joy either, I was allow the negativity of others weigh me down, particularly a challenge when it is a family member about whom you care deeply. Through prayer and the prayers of those in the AR community, that situation is turning around - along with taking steps, as you might say, a scavenger hunt, to rediscover the many joys and blessings around me.

I want to reblog this if you do't mind- think  it is superb, Paula.

Welcome back, Paula!  Keeping positive isn't always easy, and we all deserve to blow off some steam every now and again.  Just don't linger in the Pity Pit too long!  Glad to see you've climbed back out and are on top of your game again.

What an uplifting post, Paula! It is easy to get down these days, but you reminded us all of the importance of finding the positive and focusing on that. Glad you are back!

Paula ... Haven't lost my joy but am always looking for ways to reignite that. Especially that I would reaffirm my wife and partners in what she is doing, and that makes a positive difference.

Paula - there is no way we cn be happy all of the time.  I think the sad or angry posts only make you human and make all of us feel better for also having times when we feel the same. It lets us know we are not alone!  Being self employed (for the most part) can be a lonely place. I think it makes you genuine.  Good stuff.

Hi Kate!
For sure...and I want to enjoy my job...so I am going to keep my head in the sky!

Hi Janis!
Thanks!  I am back in the groove after just a little search!

Hi Rob!
I forgot about my glass for a few days...but I filled it last night, so all is good.

Hi Janis!
Reblog away! I do think we are having mirror experiences.  I have been concerned about a few family members myself...even though there isn't much I can do about their situation.  We just have to work  little harder to keep our joy.

Hi Dianne!
Yep...I was digging that pity pit pretty deep! No more!

Hi Peggy!
Thanks!

Hi Harrison!
How nice to think of your wife! You must be a wonderful hubby!

Hi Nevin!
I do work out some of my issues here...it was just getting to be too many in a row.

Thanks! At least I have friends here who understand and empathize with my rants.  I will just try to keep them fewer and further between!

Hey you - hang in there!  Don't let this business get to you or it will drag you down.  You're too good of a person to let that happen.  Leave that to the pros like me!  :-)

Hi Paula,

I like your rants and whining.  I get a kick out of reading them.  Don't stop, please.
