Swirls to Dwell not to Sell

By
Home Stager with Z Touch Design Services

Our downstairs bath is very small so there wasn't much room to do anything except for hang a picture. I knew that one dramatic wall would really make a statement. My bathroom was rust colored and after 5 years my husband put in the glass block that we had orignally planned during the remodel.  I was ready for a totally different look (and the fixtures needed updating) so I told him I wanted to paint it before he put up the trim around the glass block.  I have seen some graphic rug designs in the Home Decorators catalogue that I had planned to project up onto the wall but I ended up getting inspired by my own logo.  I love swirls.  This is a definately too wild for "staging to sell" but for me it's perfect for "staging to DWELL"!

It looks wonderful.  I have a tiny half bath and never would have thought about doing something like that.  You did a fantastic job!

Thanks for the post and Have a great weekend!

Thanks Kristin.  I had fun doing it.  My husband still rolls his eyes but I it's great that he just does that and lives with it!

Love it too!  I agree--the way we live and decorate is not the same as staging to sell.  At least for those of us who love color and stuff!

Leanne, very creative!  It had to take you a long time to paint, between the Harlequin pattern and then the swirl?  See you in swirl land.

I absolutely love it. I really do think it can be a suggestion in Designing to Sell a home. It really depends on the clientele who maybe looking at it. It's artwork!

Thanks everyone.  It really didn't take too long.  Taping the diamonds took about 2 hours.  Painting the swirls originally only took about 3 hours. I had painted them in white and decided I needed to tone it down a little more so I went back over them with a slightly darker color.  The diamonds served as a grid for copying from my original design.

Hi Leanne, beautifully done. Love it. I do this type of thing for my redesign work. I hire a painter as this is not my forte. Let your husband know that he is in a great club of husbands that help their wives stage.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that I would let it stay if I were consulting on this house in a sell situation.  I think it looks great and it is a small bath and would be easily painted over if buyers didn't like it.  I think it adds interest and custom painting is so expensive, it could add value.  Dwell or Sell it is a winner in my book!
