Good Evening, folks!

This week, in her Chicago Neighborhood News Update, our Team Member Cathy Mallers discusses the Chicago Neighborhoods of Norwood Park, Lakeview, The Loop, and The Gold Coast, and the Chicago Suburb of Evanston IL.

Have you a Summertime Event or Block Party you would like us to publicize on your behalf, via our Chicago Real Estate Blog?  We offer the Number One Rated Active Rain Blog in the City of Chicago, and across Cook County, you know.  Just drop us some info, a few days in advance!

NORWOOD PARK

A special congratulations to Norwood Park resident Erin Leyden who was honored at this week's All-Star game in St. Louis.

The All-Stars Among Us campaign sponsored by People magazine and Major League Baseball honored two Illinois residents.  Leyden is founder of the Epilepsy Outreach Foundation.

LAKEVIEW

Are you a Cubsfan?  Most of us at Dean's Team are definitely supporters of the north-siders.  So imagine our surprise when we found out about this interesting contest.

Enter Marty, a regular at Mother's Too, who will be hosting a group of lucky fans to the July 29thgame versus the Astros.  The main kicker, it's a Cubs suite.

THE LOOP

Last week we told you about the glass enclosures off the side of the Sears Tower, now the Willis Tower.  This week, there's other great news coming from the same location.

Over the next five years, the Sears Tower will be undergoing a green renovation to the tune of $350 million.  Some of the renovations will include wind turbines, green roof and solar panels.

There is also a planned next-door neighbor, a 50-story, 500-room hotelat the corner of Wacker and Jackson.

GOLD COAST

I'm not one to deny the need for retail therapy on occasion.  That's why this Sunday is a perfect time to head to The 900 Shops at 900 N. Michigan to help support a good cause.

The organization to benefit from from your shopping extravaganza is Bright Pink and there will be exclusive discounts, activities, treats, and raffle prizes throughout the shopping center.

EVANSTON

Yep, nature once again proves that it can handle anything you throw at it.

This week in Evanston, forest officials intend to release a specialized tiny wasp to see if they're effective in culling the ash borer population.

The wasps are natural enemies to the ash borers in their native China.
